They weren't wrong. Despite being during a period when X360 still had higher numbers than PS3, the PS3 versions of each game outsold their X360 counterparts. And it wasn't by a small amount, either; the closest race was still 2:1 in PS3's favor. In fact, only one of the three games on X360 broke a million worldwide, and it was still outsold by XIII-2 on PS3.
Final numbers for the trilogy on X360 managed to only hit 3.16M, whereas the PS3 trilogy hit 9.01M. That's nearly a 3:1 sales ratio, meaning that a system with less units sold almost 75% of the series.

Should also be noted that at least in the US, Microsoft also had marketing rights to FFXIII and a bundle. This time, those advantages will no longer apply for FFXV which will definitely play a significant role in the sales ratio. Sony is releasing a FFXV LE slim bundle, though that thing is ridiculously expensive ($449). However, it is still possible that they will release a standard bundle for the rest of the holiday season and that will definitely skew the ratio to the PS4's favor.
OT: The sales ratio for Type-0 in the US was 80:20 in PS4's favor. Looking back Chartz's FFXIII numbers, US sales took up 40% of the total sales. I'm willing to believe these numbers since Aquamarine mentioned that Chartz's numbers for older games are pretty close. I'm going to assume that the ratio for the rest of the world will be 95:5 in PS4's favor, so that will put the worldwide ratio to 89:11.
The XB1 version should perform good enough to sell over Microsoft's minimum print order. If that doesn't happen, well.... tough luck.
