Ah, if only people could still see jokes as just jokes instead of some superficial critic of society...

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

I thought those where funny. Almost makes me want to fire up AC again.

Let's be honest, they're completely right! 10 years from now it'll be the Gamecube all over again... maybe!

why are people being so butthurt? It's a joke, not a dick. Stop taking it so hard.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

That's the funny thing. The one that is being butthurt here is Nintendo, not the other way around.

Astonished that people are reading so much into this. It's a joke, it's not like Miyamoto or Nintendo's board voted on this message going into Animal Crossing.

There's a similar message in Wind Waker which can be seen as a reference to the GameCube.

That statement can be used about the Sega Saturn, certainly not the Wii U.

(I know it's a joke)

I am convinced that the Wii U will be looked upon a lot more favorable in hindsight than during its time on the market, at least on gaming forums. We've already seen this happen with plenty of bad systems, like your example of the Saturn, so it would be unreasonable to expect otherwise.

Well, surely it will be looked upon more favorably, but I don't expect it'll be one of the icons of the future retro gaming communities for example - my statement uses the Saturn as THE example of a system that went from zero in its time, to hero now. Once all the shit is forgotten, and only the good games are remembered, everything gains a better light, of course - but there are different degrees to that, with more than one factor in effect.

You say that, but if Mario Kart, Smash & Splatoon get superior "directors cut" ports onto the Switch then where does that leave the WiiU's Legacy? Even in hindsight it's becoming an irrevelevant machine. Of course there won't be as much hate flying at the thing, because as it won't be a current product people just won't care as much.
