and considering there is also better texturing, shadow maps, etc.

I don't know if there is better textures or not. Any official word on that? Just looks like the textures that were already there, but rendered better. Lighting would also see an improvement from simply increasing the internal resolution.

Still, for someone that is using 1080p screen, saying the Pro will only improve resolution and he see that his PS4 were already doing 1080p on the game he would think there is absolute no gain

Eh, I was thinking about getting the Pro but I think I will just get the regular PS4. I'm on a tight budget anyway..

If you do, then wait for 500GB/1TB bundles with games. Who knows maybe Watch Dogs 2 will be good after all?

I'm personally more interested in a FFXV bundle. Haven't touched FF in ages!

Unfortunately the same framerate drops persist in the regular and Pro versions.

I guess it's because I'm on a phone but...I see nothing.

You know what would be cool? An option to jump between ps4 and ps4 pro modes, on the fly. That would help when it comes to spotting the differences.

Yea this helped me with 60 FPS. What I realized is it's not that important.

Bro, do you even code? It's funny that you'd expect improved framerate from a hardware upgrade.

Given your last comment and my reply to it, i assume this is in some capacity aimed at me? That or my comment has dramatically shifted your view :p

Regardless, there's nothing wrong with expecting general frame-rate improvements, but casually expecting 100%+ frame-rate improvements in AAA titles from something like the Pro (a linear upgrade to a GPU focused system) is a bit silly, yes :)

The Scorpio and Pro having to be fully compatible with their predecessors quite heavily limits their design space. Quite simply, they have very little in the way of x86 AMD alternatives. The Scorpio's late release and potentially higher price gave some hope to them utilizing AMD's new zen architecture, but given we now know it's an 8-core CPU like its little brother (well, technically the X1 is 4x2, but regardless), that's become a lot less likely. The 8-core Zen would be quite an expensive alternative, and arguably a bit counter productive for a system being marketed as a 4k machine.

I'm sorry if i somehow offended you, but i feel people being informed is preferable to the alternative.

Don't worry, I don't get offend over this stuff. Just curious what the excitment was about

When you downsample a 1440 image to 1080, it losses all the high frequency information, so is basically the same thing as rendering at 1080p, in details. It is what maths from nyquist shannon sampling theorem tells.

The only advantage is on AA.

No, it just doesn't work that way.

The biggest most obvious advantage is AA, but you do end up with a better all round image that shows more detail when downsampled from a higher resolution. Maybe, the reason we see more detail is that with the inherent better  AA we end up with what appears to be a cleaner sharper image. I don't know, but this much is certain, you take a 1440p native render downsampled to a 1080p output screen gives you a better image than a native 1080p render outputting on a 1080p screen.

The higher you go in pixels from the downsampled target the better your results. When you think of it, every form of AA is in truth supersampling. Basically rendering more pixels than your native render.

Well, I just realise why we can see more detail. The image from pro is not at 1080p, is at 4k. So, maybe it was rendered at 1440p and upsampled to 4k. So, there was not a downsampling to 1080, thats why we can see the details.

Downsampling involves the process of low-pass filtering, that is throw away details. The same filtering used in blurring, or even in some AA solutions. So, we lose details, is the math of sampling theorem. The gain is only in AA.

That's cool, but I'm afraid there's not going to be FF XV bundle other than special 1TB Moon edition for 349$

Maybe they will announce it soon though? We are just 22 days away from release at this point.

There were some FFXV bundles here in Romania, but they are all sold out. Crap.
