Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo is going to win the holidays with NES Classic Edition

It will actually sell a couple millions, maybe every console they produce will be sold, but I don't think they will produce neither sell the 8 million consoles the PS4 will sell this Christmas.

Also, should they count them as NES Systems in their financial reports?

I'm very excited for the NES to outsell some systems well over 30 years after it released

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I really don't think so. Does the general public even know this is coming out? Hell, i forgot about this thing with the PS4Pro and Switch hype going around. It seems very cheap to make though so I think it will certainly make good money for Nintendo. Now, when the mini SNES comes out, count me in, i'm buying 10 of them!

They definitely know it's coming out.  At least all my non-gamer friends seem to know about it and are posting about it on facebook and whatnot.

Weird, none of my friends (although, many are not hardcore console gamers/warriors, mostly PC) are talking about, or PS4PRo either honestly. They grew up playing NES so I would think they would at least mention it. That's good that people are talking about it but I still don't think it can take on the PS4, PS4Pro and XB1 S on this holiday season.

I can't believe I'm going to unironically recommend an OUYA.... but that machine costs similar to this and can emulate nes, snes, n64, psx, gb, gbc, gba, genesis... etc...

I'd rather have an Ouya.

You can replace the word ouya with about 2,000 other product names that will emulate and play NES games well. I picked up a Gamestick at Amazon for £14 brand new. Stick a custom firmware on that and download 'happy chick' and suddenly I've got 10s of thousands of emulated games to choose and play although saying that the Ouya outclasses the gamestick. Ouya 12.5 gflops gpu and 17,000 mips cpu compared to 7.2 gflops and 7,500 mips. Both will emulate at full speed both 8bit and 16bit arcade machines and consoles and probably a few more above that especially the Ouya.

The difference is with this new Nintendo product you will be playing legally but to be honest the experience is better elsewhere.

Yeah, I mean obviously it's not a great sample size, but from my experience, it's not just gamers that are talking about it.

It will sell well, but the inability to play other games besides the 30 preloaded ones, either by supporting old cartridges or more modern media, will limit its sales. Many retrogamers will even be quite pissed off about having just 30 classic games of all the ones NES had.
But maybe Ninty is planning a SNES Classic Edition for Xmas 2017 that will go beyond the shortcomings of this one.

I don't know, I think it'd be pretty sad if a bunch of 30 year old games outsell the current gen. :L

Honestly, I have a bad hunch that Nintendo is gonna have stocking issues, much like how there were so many rare Amiibo during the first four waves.

If that happens, say goodbye to any chance of huge sales during Christmas.

Ok, ignoring that that doesn't happen, it'll certainly do well, but probably not super amazing.

It's basically just a game.....shouldn't be even be compared to consoles
