Do you mean to release non core games on PS4/XB1? If so, better that on pc which is for home consoles, what mobile phones are for handheld consoles!

(from an earlier reply) "Same thing will happen when they release games for PC or whatever". Yup. I meant mostly PC which is not , necessarily, a direct competitor. It could be spin offs or even core games. Make some of them multiplatform and then the next one exclusive to a ninty console. Those who play the first one and love it are more likely to buy a ninty console (like it happened with pokemon go). Whether it's old ninty fans or new users is irrelevant.

Three hardware makers basically doing the same thing isn't "competetion". It's a slaughter for one of the three.

That's not necessarily good for the market because the "third wheel" company gets screwed over. Was it "good" for the gamer to have Sega razed to the ground and become what they are today? Hell no. Sega being Sega of the 90s/early 2000s was far better for the gamer.

"More competition = good for the consumer" is actually one of the false pretenses of the industry I think.

You need basically just 2 companies to have competition and to keep the other honest. After that you just get into over kill.

since even from their worst selling console they made a profit s

There is no proof that gamecube made a profit. Only that Ninty was profitable during that period if you combine handheld and home console sales.

Also, I doubt they were profitable with wiiu. They may have, but there is no proof (to my knowledge).

Oh naru you lured me and made a wall of text! Actually, I combined my reply to you with my comment about the article!
So, if you don't read it, no problem lol! It might also be incomprehensible in some parts hahah.

One thing that I have to repeat from my extensive comment is that the writer overestimates xbox one...
I mean 10m ZBOTW on it when halo 5 will fall short of than number and the best third party  game, will barely surpass that? Hello, we're not on the irregularly vast 7TH gen.

I read all of it. I swear. It goes without saying that I agree with the bolded.

If that starts happending.... theres like zero reason to get a switch.

Who left this guy post this article after he wrote "20 Milions on PS4" ???

Not neccessarily.

Nintendo chooses strategically to put certain games on iOS/Android ... you still have to buy a Switch to get your full fill of Nintendo games.

Nintendo could do something similar eventually for Playstation/XBox. You get a taste of Nintendo IP there, but to get the full Nintendo experience you have to buy a Switch.

People have been litterally saying that Nintendo is doomed and going third party since the nes days, look it up and you'll find tons of old posts.

I'm reasonably sure that we don't have any posts from the "NES days" saying people should go third party.

It definitely wasn't a thing during the NES/SNES/N64 days.

It really started with the GameCube's failure contrasted with the GBA's success.

The only way Nintendo would go third party is if Switch was another Wii U level failure, and then they had yet another Wii U level failure after that. That's how much money they're sitting on still from the Wii/DS juggernauts, not to mention all the money the 3DS has brought in for them this era. And Sun/Moon are set to potentially be one of the best selling game of all time. Nintendo is a proud company with a lot of rainy day stockpiles. They're still nowhere near in the level of danger that would force them into third party. So no we will not be seeing their games on Xbox One or PS4 ever. PS5 era would be the absolute earliest Nintendo would be forced into third party, and probably not even that soon. Not that I think it will happen at all, Nintendo knows the ups and downs of the idustry and how to survive and rebuild themselves.

if they were in danger the Nintendo Switch would be a traditional console like the xbox and ps4 and no this experimental switch (hehe) that they are doing.
