Forums - Gaming - Will Sony and MS copy the Switch?

So what's this new big innovation ideas from the Switch?

A handheld with docking station to connect to the TV?

Gotta copy that!

Sony already failed with the Vita. Microsoft can combine their Xbox and Surface.

Pocky Lover Boy!

They can try, but any hardware they make that doesn't have good western third party support is destined to fail, and a device like this is too weak to have such games.

Ssssssshhhhhhh. That's just Sony using their time machine again because they don't have their own original ideas. Like they copied Kinect for their Playstation Eye.

yeah heres the proof how sony time travelled copied the concept and used it in a commercial. https://www.youtube.com/embed/yzkdnJeFkh8

not to mention they completely ripped off the Switch commercial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QC7QcE6WEhg

Yeah, these commercials are pretty much identical with the Switch commercial. Is this what advertisement agencys think will click with "the kids"? It did not work very well with Sony fans.

Anyway the Switch commercial got 20 times more views in Japan (  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvaQENG7lBI  ), and 3000 times more views in the west with the "same" commercial.
Why are Nintendo fans looking/liking at this kind of commercial?
...and then they will not buy Switch anyway?

I am surprised that a simple youtube clip could get this much buzz going!

EDIT: OT: MS and Sony will present something similar but will not support it for very long.

No, the 9th gen is seemingly headed exactly how I figured it would; the generation when they try to set themselves apart, where the 8th gen was where they all tried to be (more or less) the same.

Besides; I don't think it's a very good thing to copy, Sony already crashed with their tablet business once and have to stay predictable for now.

Microsoft? No. I think that when the Xbox One line is done, they're done. Sony seems pretty dedicated to the console space though. I don't think Switch will be copied per se, rather I think the core philosophy of it will be a major part of consoles' future: convenience. Diminishing returns is making the graphics war a more costly path. I don't know if the Switch form is the way they will go, but I think a convenience and pure gaming focus is the future. Especially with smart tvs spreading rapidly, making the multimedia functions increasingly superfluous and ultimately pointless. Eventually, consoles gotta go somewhere and my bet is they go right back to where they started. It wasn't power that made consoles and empire, it was the convenience vs PCs and arcades. Eventually, that will be the only place they'll be left to go.

Guys, it's not only about off-TV or portability, I already adressed that in the OP. It's also about detachable (and therefore switchable) controllers. Now you say that this Morphus x300 did that already a year ago, but why has nobody cared? Nintendo does it and it's a thing now.

No.
