that will change when ff comes out.
even though i hate rpgs to hell, fable was agood game and i expect fable 2 to be no worse.

The original fable was all right but nothing special. Combat system sucked...real hard. I would actually preferred JRPG turned-based. There's no point in real-time combat but you can't make it good. Oblivion sucked because of that.

......
Fable 1 was aweful compared to what was promised. I litterally have 0 expectation for it. That might be a good thing....But when you've played as many RPGs as I have, it's a bad thing.
Fable coulda been the Zelda killer, but it wasn't close.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

The only zelda that is even close to a rpg is Zelda II. Zelda is a Adventure/Action game. You can't even compare the two. Even if fable had everything that was the best rpg ever it wouldn't even be close to killing one of nintendos big 3. I see know need to compare the two.

Uhh since when was Fable considered a rival to Zelda?

Man you almost had a full agreement with me. I also bought into the Fable hype and was very dissappointed. It jsut didn't live up to anything for me. Didn't enjoy it or liike it at all.
However even suggesting anything could be a zelda killer, is well silly. I mean I'm sure its possible but come on this is Zelda we are talking about. It's going to take something more than that to beat out zelda or even start consideration.

LO was really good (excellent even). It could just be that I generally prefer WRPG's to JRPG's. But don't you dare claim Fable 2 won't have a story. The first one did and it was brilliant, with plenty of awesome little side quests that directly related back to it. This game is set 500 years after the first, and I suspect that it will still be about Jack of Blades, but thats speculation on my part.
Whats even better about Fable 2 is that side quests (and inevitably some main quests) are pointed out to you by the companion you share the adventure with, your dog. This allows you to choose whether or not to follow the scents he picks up or not.
Play Fable 1, then tell me Fable 2 won't have a story. Better yet, play Fable: The Lost Chapters expansion, as it greatly increased on the story of the first.

it will be average, sales will be disappointing
mass effect will probably be the best selling console exclusive RPG of the 360's lifetime (assuming it stays exclusive)

Out of curiosity, what does being a _____ killer mean exactly? Because games have sold better than Zelda while being in the same genre (if we are counting the genre as RPG, which I assume we are for this discussion) so does that mean that those games were Zelda killers?

I didn't mind the combat system of Fable 1, but in any case Fable 2's system has been completely revamped and is fairly unique. It's a single button combat system with one button for your melee weapon (of which there will be many), one button for your gun (of which there will be many) and one button for your spells (of which there will be many).
But don't worry if that sounds simplistic, as it will have a lot of depth. The length of time you hold down your button will effect the time it takes to attack, the type of attack and the force of the attack. Additionally, there are going to be dozens of combos of different attacks. Finally (and most wonderfully), when playing co-op (and another player can jump in or out ANYTIME) you can mix combos up between the two players for more damage and more experience points.
