It's simple. Dumb people are everywhere. Where ever you live, I'm sure the same study could be done and the person could cherry-pick enough stupid people to put together a similar video clip.

Do you think any of us is going to look at that video and think "Omg everyone in America IS stupid!" ? Give us more credit please, no need to defend anything.

 I think the point is though this could be done with any country.  For example a lot of people in the UK think Winston Churchill was fictional.

 Oddly Uganda was the first country that popped to my mind as well. 


Uganda, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Uraguy and Uzbekistan.

USA being shortened to America and UK being shortended to England really makes me not think of them right away.

I bet most people in europe know very very little about countries outside of Europe.

It's a lot easier for stupid people to know a lot about other countries when their are a huge number of them within driving distance.

As for your other point though.  America is pretty well diverse.  It itself is as if it was made up of many different countries (which was the original idea).

You could simply drive to other parts of America to see different cultures believe it or not.  Hell some places you can drive down the same road and see 3-4 distinct cultures.

I believe that the magnification is the same on both maps.  I got them off of this.  Next time someone says Americans are ignorant for not knowing other languages, think of this.  I live over 1000km from F-town, and a little less than twice that far from S-ville.  Someone in Vancouver (US/Canada border on the Pacific) is about the same distance from the latter and over 3000km from the former.
