Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo is committing a lot of the same lethal mistakes they did with the WiiU, and more.

PSVita is the HH for playing console games on the go... and you said that even though it's sales weren't big it would be a very big market to go after... and I compared it to 3DS, to show that the market to go after isn't the one PSVita tried to get.

No the Vita is not, clearly, 3DS has a lot of console quality titles and people are buying it up. And with Pokemon and Monster Hunter seeing massive success, there is obviously a market for console quality titles on the go. Especially since they are cheaper than home console games (not to mention not nearly as limiting).

PSVita can even stream console games to it, or play similar quality (like Golden Abyss) while 3DS is very far from that, sorry if I fail to see your point.

Nintendo said on Twitter this was a preview of the NX. Then they showed the preview trailer. They pretty much did what was expected for a preview trailer, getting the new console's name out and show what it can do. All the other features that are not the main focus of the console will be detailed out on a later date.

We're not talking about a consoles releasing in Holiday 2017. The Nintendo Switch is releasing in March 2017 less then 6 month away.

Nintendo saying that they will not release anymore information until 2017 is a joke. There so many unanswered question and just leave the customer feeling like there are major shortcomings that Nintendo is trying to hide.

Nintendo switch is going to be underpowered compare to the competition and the portability could have a serious battery life problem. The main selling point of this console is what it can offer has mobile gaming device but Nintendo already downplaying that mobile aspect. The Nintendo Switch also doesn't offer any type of innovation.

“Nintendo Switch is a home gaming system first and foremost,” the company told Polygon.

You do not see my point because you want me to work unnecessarily hard to prove you incorrect. I am not going to, you can just read my last post and understand what I am saying.

Smash Bros is a home console title on 3DS. I mean, the frame data is identical and all. Monster Hunter Tri on Wii U and 3DS are compatible (3DS players can play with Wii U users) meaning that literally a home console game is on 3DS. What I am saying is, there is plenty of market for home console quality titles on the go. The days of home consoles being drastically different from hand helds are limited and may even be gone.

While I understand what you are saying, I am not arguing features, I am arguing game titles and their content and quality. Two different arguments.

Three months after 2017 comes around should be plenty time to answer any outstanding questions or do you feel this insufficient?

It's not like they are releasing a game and are afraid of spoilers. After the PS4 and Xbox one were announce customers knew exactly what to expect. Especially with hte backlash against Microsoft with the DRM, Kinect 2.0  and Xbox one being less powerful than PS4.

disagree 100%

the marketing appears good

name is good

device actually provides a new convenient and desired function (i.e. home AND mobile use)

looks as if it will possibly be released with both Zelda AND Mario

literally all of those were the biggest Wii U mistakes and all are in wayyy better working order this time around as far as we know at this point in time

The ps4 reveal was one of the best ever made. Nintendo should have learned from it.

As for the switch having a good buzz on the internet, of course, nintendo fanboys are always here to make a lot of noises and tbh the console is a good fit for gamers.
But the general public won't follow at all. The switch is really not made for them.

The switch could be a nice success though maybe up to 35 millions.
But not more than that, the concept, the size, the third party support, it won't be a success like the ps4 or the 3ds.

Not really, I think is just the imperative need of putting everything Nintendo related on a bad light.

They showed a concept that people has quickly understood and is getting quite a positive buzz. The only reason they are not giving more info is to not overshadow 3DS and Mini Nes this holidays. after that they have 3 months to fully detail everything we don't know and use the momentum to have good numbers at release.

I agree with you that the announcement was actually good, maybe very, very good, and the proof simply is everybody even barely interested in gaming is speaking or writing about the Switch, but I think that despite their attempt to save Wii U and 3DS Xmas sales by giving not too many info on the next console, those sales will suffer a considerable hit, just because the hype on the Switch is so high and it comes when not only Wii U is dying, but 3DS too is suffering, despite its invincible past in the portable market and competition that this gen happened to become just niche.

Well, the Super NES having the same name as the NES didn't exactly stop it from selling around half of its predecessor.

SNES sold about 80% of NES.........thats way more than half

You're right.  I don't know why I was thinking the NES sold 80M.  Though, I guess my point still stands, even if its deminished slightly.  The NES name didn't help it sell the same or more than its predecessor.

but how do you know the name didnt prevent it from declining worse?
