Forums - Nintendo - How about switch Smash Bros to Switch

Smash Bros is already in the Wii U and 3DS, and it's the same game apart from Graphics..

Would not be a Smart decision for Nintendo if instead of developing a Smash Bros from Scratch from the Switch, they just port it over, and add a lot more of Content into it?

They could do something like if you already own it for Wii U, you would pay a certain ammount to transfer it over to Switch with the new Content.

This could reduce a lot development cost and time. I really do not need an Graphic Update for my Smash Bros on The Go, if I had the Wii U version running on my Switch, but I would love more characters.

What do you think?

Yea I wouldn't mind that at all, as long as they add more substantial content, such as more balance patches, a couple new characters, and perhaps a story mode.

Also, I think online mode needs a serious revamp, such as actual dedicated servers, and not P2P connections, some sort of matchmaking/ranking system (I either get paired with players that I can beat in like 30 seconds with my eyes closed, or players that absolutely curb stomp me), and more stages besides Final Destination on For Glory (at least include Battlefield.)

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

It's like 90% confirmed, Smash was amongst the 4 games Emily Rogers said that were to be ported to NX alongside Splatoon (confirmed), BotW (confirmed) and SMM (not confirmed, might be due to the possible lack of touch screen functionality), moreover a few weeks later Bandai Namco stated they were working on "Several titles for NX" which led many to believe that a Smash port was amongst them. That beeing said now that we know that From Software is (supposedly) supporting the Switch I wonder if one game from them is part of those several titles...

That would be pretty good but personally I don't like the idea of repaying for a game which I bought with minor improvements and even a more added cost of dlc. SSB4 is closet to melee as SSB has ever gotten but that does not mean it can't improve significantly. If they allow me to keep all my stuff for a very cheap transfer price ($10 or less) then sure but if its like, you gotta pay $30 for the transfer + whatever additional content they bring out, than no thanks.

New SSB would = Improved interface, better Netcode, new modes, maybe stuff like SE2 and who knows what else. I would prefer them to just give me a new one.

The problem with a New one is a 3 years development cycle. Code wise it can be done in a shorter time, like patching and improving the net code, maybe it might even have to be rewriting due to the new architeture, which is no longer that PowerPC.

, the thing with a new Smash is that artworks, animations, licensing and other stuff would take a lot of time.

Well... SSB4 came out in 2014 and NX is releasing in 2017... Thats 3 years so I see no issues. Even if it takes 4 years, if they planned it right, they should be able to pad it with other titles like MK.

Smash Bros 4 port for Switch is almost certain.

I'm not really into all this rereleasing/remastering crap we have seen this generation, but I could see Nintendo releasing Smash Bros. Wii U for Switch, and I guess from a business point of view, it makes sense. To me it would be a lot better if they just made a new one for Switch. Same with Splatoon and Mario Kart. Mario Maker however, I would like to see rereleased, because it's not really a game you can make a sequel to.

I would still prefer a Smash 5..

but porting it would be fine, I'll just pass on it unless they do something crazy with new additions
