One of the complaints I've seen more frequently online about the Switch is that some people just don't like handhelds that much anymore. I've been thinking of all the posible hardware versions and upgrades Nintendo could do to the console. An XL model would probably be counterproductive because it would take more space at home and, by the looks of it, the screen is pretty big as it is. Same with a Mini model, it may be smaller on the home console part, but it will lose definition on the handheld part. But a compact version of the console that ditches the dettachable controllers, the screen, the batteries and all of the expensive components that allow the switch functionality? That might actually be more interesting. Considering this model can save on a lot of things, it may be able to have a bigger memory disc/card and be released at half the price. That would actually be a really interesting proposition.

What do you think? Will we see something like the Vita TV with the Switch? Or will they choose other forms for the hardware?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

If you don't like handhelds then use it as a console only. I don't see the problem here...

There is no problem, if its like $149,- else there is, people who don't want to use the handheld functionality (like me) will pay extra for something they don't wish to use, which is a bad business decision, by making a Nintendo Switch with no screen and no double controller, but just the pro controller they can reduce the price significantly for peoplw who just want to use it as a home console and increase the install base.

They would be insane not to do it, I think the docking station is fine for people who want the handheld, its a nice storage station and doesn't include additional hardware and is proberbly a HUB to attach your external HDD too (hopefully) but for people who dont want a porable system, give them an option.

Well I woldnt use the 4K streaming on the PS4Pro, can I get it cheaper now?

They will do all of this over time

-Xl with bigger better screen (10" tablets are a norm)/less bezel, more internal storage

-Cheap console box for $99-149 depending on HDD/controller bundle.

-Standalone traditional handheld with dock and controllers sold seperately

-Revised, slimer, sleeker base model.

Nobody would use 4k streaming on the Ps4pro concidering its build in in almost every 4K television, but I have good news sir, 4k streaming is not a hardware part of the console and doesn't cost a single cent. The handheld however on the switch is one of the most expensive parts.

I`d love it if they did.

But considering they were too stubborn to ever release a tablet-less version of the Wii U I expect the same thing will happen here.

Many Wii U games depended on the tablet. With Switch you can choose to play on a TV or on the tablet. If they were willing to take the 3D from the 3DS they will certainly offer a stand alone console at a super cheap price, but only once they established the Switch brand

The handheld IS the console. Why should this be 149$ when absolutely no other console is that cheap?

Just for comparison

DS, DS Lite, DS XL, DSi, DSi Xl

3DS, 3DS Xl, 2DS, new 3DS, new 3DS XL

I don't know the price, I would assume no tablet would make it around $100 cheaper as just the home console version, which is great, so if the basic one would bw 249,- it could be around 149,- but even if its 199,- its still great cuz they can bundle it with a Pro controller (which else you need to buy seperate) instead of the worse- normal controller detached from the tablet and the console would proberbly aso LOOK better because it wouldnt be a docking station and it would proberbly be SMALLER.

see lots of benefits, hell, even at the same price I would prefer not having the tablet because of the controller and size.
