I only buy Nintendo and Blizzard games day one. In my opinion, they have a track record of polish, and I'm confident on their quality.
I only buy games day 1 if they're from a series that I know I can trust to be good every time, such as Pokemon, Smash Bros, and Dragon Quest. Otherwise, I wait for pretty big sales before I end up buying other games.
For Tekken 7 and FF12, I'll buy them day one. I need them... on others, not so much. UNLESS the deal is right. I'm quite tight when it comes to spending money on game and I rarely spend more than £30. So I mostly wait until online stores to competing prices or buy it used. It's what I'll be doing with FF15 (used on that one), ME4 and Persona 5. With many online games, it pays to wait a little for them to iron out the issues.
Hmm, pie.

I have been slowly moving away from day one'ism and only have never really pre-ordered unless I am 100% sure and want a digital preload. I can now say I'm fully a patient gamer and I hope others are seeing the light. I'll be adding a poll and please participate, interesting results I'm hoping. Do you day one or wait? |
I just laugh at these people who say "dont preorder, dont do day 1" etc
Like, what game doesnt have reviews/hands on impressions before release? That should prevent you from buying broken/bad games and nasty surprises, and no reviews before launch usually is bad news. Pre-order from Amazon=no payment upfront until launch. Thats the only advice you need to buy a game.
Also "dark days" lmao, console gaming has never been better in the last 10 years than now.

Then I wonder how many Nintendo Wii U games you have bought because they've ranged from terrible to mediocre mostly in the last year and a half.

I usually only buy games that I really want day 1. I only buy games that catch my interest, not for anything else like pre-order bonuses.

Well, I actually enjoyed Color Splash and Star Fox: Zero, so I really don't agree with that. Now, yeah, they've released some unredeemable turds (Animal Crossing, Mario Tennis, Devil's Third funding...). So, what I really mean is that when they actuallly deliver, they're the best company talking about polish and quality imo. I didn't talk about all the Nintendo software output. They've made some filler, but it's easy to identify them xD.
