Forums - Gaming - No RDR2 for NX. What does this mean for 3rd party support on NX?

Well, for now, it doesn't mean anything. While I highly, highly, highly doubt RDR2 is coming to NX, if it was, I would assume they would reveal it with the NX announcement since that would actually be a megaton.

But after the wiiU, I doubt most third party will make games for the NX without first seeing how it sells.

Forget about just this game, third parties across the board are neglecting to announce NX titles. So far we have sonic, Dragon Quest X &XI and just dance.

Likely the NX is a portable hybrid and the support it gets will be specific games which graphically can be dumbed down without sacrificing it's appeal to it's respective demographic. My prediction is that launch will be full of small/budget 3Rd party titles and be completely driven by Nintendo tossing out their biggest IPs out the gate. If it finds success, more third parties will hop on board with quirky and unique spin off/IPs and indie titles. I expect it to recieve pretty much every Japanese IP under the sun, but it may be a slow start

I'm guessing that there'll be a whole bunch of 18+ games not on the NX.  I think Nintendo are quite happy to stick with their non-mature market.

Guess this means we can also rule out any potential GTA coming to NX, as well; which will definitively make potential consumers who are somewhat interested in what technology it could be but like playing third parties ignore the system and go for the safest options.

Lost sales for Nintendo; depending on the size of those numbers, it can be a huge blow. Maybe WiiU situation all over again.

They're not completely against it. They did have Bayonetta 2 on their system, and that's anything but kid friendly. Xenoblade X arguably isn't only aimed at younger audiences either. I think it's too early to rule out what games the NX could be getting.

The important support that will make or break NX will come from Nintendo themselves. In addition, to stand a chance of being successful they'll need a good, affordable price point, support from Japanese third parties, and family friendly support from Activision, UbiSoft and Warner Brothers etc in the West. If franchises like Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Mario, Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter, Pokemon, Zelda, Skylanders, Rayman, Just Dance, LEGO etc are on NX, I can see it becoming the market leader in Japan and a moderately successful system in the West. I don't see EA, Bethesda or Take2 supporting NX, and I don't think that'll be fatal to the system. Mistakes with branding, pricing, marketing and Nintendo's own software--consistency of releases in particular--will be more detrimental to NX.

I doubt it will be the Wii U situation, however Nintendo will never regain what they had with the Wii and DS.

So what's your estimate for NX hardware sales, then?

First I need to know the device, but lets say above Wii U, but below 3DS at this stage.

I don't think you can count NX out just yet. Why would rockstar have the announcement of the new game today and then hold off on the trailer until this Thursday at 11AM EST? Why does that make sense?

One way it could make sense is if Nintendo is going to have its NintendoDirect at 7PST/10EST and end it with Rockstar's trailer.
