Forums - Sony Discussion - Everything wrong with psvr

Here they lie was the one I was most interested in but it got spanked by critics. Is it really that bad?

I like the demo, very spooky atmosphere. It really made me want to go slow and carefully peek around corners. Texture resolution is pretty bad though, but the demo still made me want to play more.

Some of the points you mentioned are done better in the CV1/Vive.

Mainly tracking and resolution and graphics. Also the FOV is higher (not alot but a bit), especially in the Vive.

Tracking is on both PC Devices leagues better.

Setup is easiest on the Rift.

Lightbleed from the Nosegap is non existant on the Vive also if you switch Facemasks its also non existant on the Rift.

However the Rift has a Nosegap by default so without changing the Facemask you will have an issue there.

What PSVR has over the PC Headsets is the SDE. It has way less SDE then Vive/Rift but the resolution is worse, everything is more aliased and blurry.

Would be interesting to use the PS VR on a PC and SuperSample the games.

How is the difference between pentile and RGB screen? I really like the colors and black level in psvr, better than my lcd tv.

Hopefully ps4 pro can supersample the games as well. Downscaled HD Netflix looks pretty decent on it as well as games. Normal DriveClub on the glasses still looks great. The vr version feels right when playing yet cuts too much detail.

Resolution: my biggest gripe. Hopefully ps4 pro fixes this because that is the soul reason I'm buying one

I expect games that on PS4 render at below the native resolution of the PSVR to look a good portion cleaner on the Pro, while those that already operate at native res probably show smaller gains

unfortunately there's no info what res the different games render at and I imagine pixel-counting might be difficult

Sony did a great job offering a budget level VR experience that will cater to a large and growing fan base.

I would be all over it but I already own the Oculus Rift and it is a better headset.

As others have stated this first release will allow Sony to release an improved future product down the road as popularity grows.

I say it again. Vr in general is a fad.

You have a more pronounced SDE with Pentile. But the Resolution is higher. So things look sharper more detailed. Black levels well Oculus had a red tint issue its mostly resolved now.

TBH for me the picture quality is the biggest issue in VR in general. I am hoping for dual 4k screens full rgb and HDR next gen. This alone will elevate the experience to the next level. Lightfield Displazs Eyetracking 140 FOV the future is bright after that who knows.

I love VR its such a nice experience to be able to actually see everything in scale and with real depth. I am happy about PSVR making the marketplace more relevant so we can get more software and hardware improvments. Cant wait for RE7 VR to come to PC. VR saved gaming for me I was almost out for good. Now I am excited and eager to see what the future holds.

Very cool review. It will be released here in Brazil in april 2017. I intendo to, the Lord willing, buy it in june. I have a lot of financial responsabilities, the payments on my house and car and the monthly costs of putting bread on the table, but I started saving a little bit for the inevitable gaming temptations of 2017, namely Nintendo NX and PSVR.
Hopefuly, till then there will be a lot of great VR games to try.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Nice review.

It reconfirms my original thinking. VR is something that has potential but again probably rushed a little too early. 10 years from now probably would have been better when the resolution is greater, less cables and more importantly cheaper.

I'll get one once its been on the market a little longer, i want to see if this thing will get support. Already been burnt by the Vita and the WiiU, don't need another dud in my wardrobe.

You were "burnt" by the Vita? Rich.

OP. Yeah. It doesn't look worth the price at all. Moreso in Canada.

The ps3 graphics thing is because VR requires a beefy machine to play good visual games with a decent framerate, and ps4 isn't.

A powerful PC + HTC Vive are the way to go if you want a good VR experience.

Not a fad just not worth it atm.
