Forums - Gaming - Frustrating Video Game Moments: Have You Gotten Stuck on a Video Game?

Yeah, I feel I've heard a lot about the good and bad sides with the atari, I think a lot of it from AVGN. He may mostly talk about bad games and how awful some of the Atari games were, I think I got picture of how the Atari 2600 was during its run.

Also, I think I get the idea of Bugs. You... shoot the spray can thing and it explodes, killing all the bugs and lizard, right? That's what I think I got. It looks pretty confusing though. I'm not even sure what was happening, haha.

I have no idea.  Nothing I ever did worked.  You move your cursor side to side but can't do anything until that thing appears and then you can only shoot that.  Of course, that takes so long that the bugs reach the top, at which point it you've lost.  Honestly, I could probably work it out now but, as a kid, I was totally lost.  When children are your audience, that's bad.

I do want to stress that there were lots of good games, too.  It's just that you often didn't know what you were getting, unlike now.

Like this game, which I loved, which also came from the bargin bin.

Around the Network

On my first time trying to play through Dark Souls I got completely stuck on the Bell Gargoyle boss and pretty much gave up the game for quite a long time. I did eventually go back to the game and finished it. Now it's one of my favourite games of all time, but back then I just couldn't get into it no matter what.

Another one is Resonance of Fate where I was stuck in one of the bosses for a long time. I've only played the game through once, and I started the playthrough in 2010 and didn't actually finish the game until earlier this year. I would from time to time try to get back into it, but was never really able, until during summer of this year I finally decided to just get through it no matter what.

That game does look pretty fun. What's interesting about Atari games is figuring out what things are. I'm guessing the missingno. guys are bad guys and you're supposed to shoot them. The spinning blades I figure need to be shot as well, and I can tell the gun is ammo or something. The main goal seems to be to stay alive and shoot the other characters. That's quite fun in itself, figuring out what is what.

That bug game though... yeah, looks frustrating to figure out.

As a kid RPGs all the time had me going "Where do I need to go?" if I took breaks from them. I know people complain about hand holding, but I love a quick reference option to let me know "Go to Town X" or something similar.

I felt the same way with Final Fantasy 1. It was fun having massive amount of freedom, but I was quite stumped on what to even do, haha.

When I got to that moth boss in Silent Hill, I had run out of ammo, so I had to beat it with the lead pipe, I don't remember how many tries it took me but damn, I got stuck really good in there.
