Clearly false alarm, as many already have proven.

Nintendo made a major attempt (major because it was EAD that made the game) in creating a new hardcore franchise with Pikmin on the Cube and had quite a number of other new games on the Cube like Luigi's Mansion, Starfox Adventures (I consider both of them as new franchises), Geist, Eternal Darkness and others.
Aditonally, they started releasing J-only franchises like Wars and Fire Emblem in the West and had a number of new handheld franchises since the late GBA era with Golden Sun, Wario Ware, Mario & Luigi etc.

Nintendo has created plenty of new ip's, Pikmin, Advance Wars, WarioWare, the Brain Training and Wii series, Nintendogs, granted they not be AAA but to say there are no new ip's is misguided.

I consider Wii Sports AAA (ok I really don't know what you mean by AAA anymore... it seems to only mean titles which had masses of money spent on them as well as got great reviews and great sales... but I class it AAA as a brilliant game)

I think Wii Sports should be considered AAA seeing just the impact it has. 90+ scores are also AAA.

And as all the ones above me said...Nintendo do a lot of new ip, some so revolucionary and that as opposes the common thinking of game can't be AAA if we talk on reviews, but sales says another thing. [Wii Fit, Wii Sport, Brain Age, Nintendogs]

Weather Wii Sports is AAA is debatable but there isn't a shortage of new nintendo IP's. They released a lot of great new games in the last 3-4 years...

Looking at the trend of games released lately, I do wish Nintendo concentrated more on making new mature themed IPs...or even make their old games have more mature theme, such as metroid (alien pops out of the stomach...blood everywhere lol). But being a clean, family entertainment company is working for them extremely well so I am not holding my breath.
