Forums - Sony - PlayStation VR Not Restocked Until November In UK, Prices Skyrocket On eBay

It's odd, I sort of wanted one before, but now that there is shortages of it I would be fair more keen to get it if I had the chance... Clever girl Sony as long as they handle it right and don't let scalpers make the lions share with it like they did on rare amiibo

In 5 years from now, I have no doubt that 500 million VR units will be selling each year. We will have VR in every room, and on every mobile device. So, be patient, your investment will be well worth it.

... Wot?

VR is the future of gaming, shopping, movies, live sports, education, and the list goes on. VR devices will be needed for every TV, every console, every computer, and every phone on the market. There will be PSVR like experiences built into stand alone VR sets in the next couple of years. There will be VR headsets from every TV manufacturer, every smartphone manufacturer, and all three console makers.

Thanks to the unlimited amount of new expeirences that VR brings, and the unlimited amount of possabilities it brings for experience enhancing add ons, the VR market is going to be the biggest market in the history of electronics. New headsets will come yearly, new devices to run high powered headsets will come out yearly, and there will be a massive race to who has the best headset, and who has the cheapest/ good enough set.

The VR future is real, and what seems like a lot of money today ($400 - $800 for VR, and $300 - $1500 for a device to power it) will be small beans. $2000 dollar VR machines, with $1000 HMDs, and $600 worth the sensors and conrtollers will be available to the core VR enthusiasts, just like $3000 Recievers, $2000 Blu-ray players, and $20,000 TVs can be purchased today.

Ten years from now watching TV, surfing the web on a monitor, or gaming on the big screen will be like listening to the radio is today. VR is a highly supirior way to engage with digital content, and interact with electonics. Eventually we will have VR/AR devices the size of glasses that allow us to do incredible things. PSVR, Vive, Rift, Gear, Daydream, and Hololens are the start of an amazing future.

Unexpected. I'm quite impressed really.

I've asked people in the GAF thread if they're being hyperbolic because right now hundreds of people are calling this a phenomal step forward for gaming. I've seen excitement before on GAF and I've learned to take it in with a little skeptisism but I've never seen reactions like this.

That may be the future eventually, but selling 500 million units per year, only five years from now, in 2021... that's the part I find very hard to believe.

It may be a little high, but between Consoles, PCs, Smartphones, and Tablets, there are well over 500 million devices sold each year, and the majority of them will be connected to VR, and I believe it will be common place that quickly. Buy 2021, the PS4 + PSVR experience will be possible for $400, PS4 Super Slim + PSVR + PS Move. Phones will be doing current PSVR type experiences, and their will be stand alone headsets for $200 which will be on PSVR level. I just feel like this is going to come on very quickly.

It's so good it could have saved No man's sky! Damn after playing around with it I really want to jet pack around on those procedurally generated planets!
(Although with the massive pop in, frame rate problems and sickening landing manoevers, nevermind)
Anyway Wayward sky download just finished, Headset on, real world off :)

Wayward Sky is one of the games they were raving about.

It's still in stock, The standalone £349 unit is out of stock but all the PSVR+ Game bundles or PSVR+ Camera bundles are in stock.

They should bundle psvr with vitas!!!

But, seriously, this is good news. Whether it flops in a few weeks is another story. Let's stick to what we know for now.

Wish it was sold out in the US. I'm really questioning my investment now. 😐

I don't regret the purchase. It's just that the first place I went to didn't have the bundles so I hurried and bought the camera, moves, and headset for $600. I'm starting to think I could have gotten the $500 bundle with a free copy of PSVR Worlds if I'd just gone next door to Wal-Mart or looked around.

Oh well. Can't cry over spilled milk.
