Forums - Sony - Japanese Gamers Line Up For Hours To Get PSVR

Lines in front of the most popular electroni stores in Tokyo aare a familiar sight for those who have followed the Japanese gaming industry for a while. In the last few years, those lines have become shorter and shorter, and in many case didn’t even appear due to the spreading of pre-orders and online shopping.

Yet, some big launches for hardware and software still prompt Japanese gamers to line-up, and PlayStation VR is one of those, even if of course we aren’t going to see enormous crowds, especially considering the very limited supply.

People started to line up in front of the popular electronic store Yodobashi Akiba in Akihabara since before 3 AM, as shown in the pictures below, courtesy of Twitter user . The store opens at 9:30 AM.

How many tentacles movies are we going to see on PSVR?

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Great to see!

Seems like you put PlayStation name into something and it becomes huge, well except Vita.

So, one last time VR will make some huge buzz before vanishing into oblivion next year. It was a fun ride VR, but technology just isn't there yet, sorry. See you in 10 years. RIP PSVR.

Am I missing the topic? I don't even care. I had them all and I am really really disappointed that VR falls short in every way imaginable. I can't possibly imagine this thing to be a long-term success once the masses see the short-comings for themselves.

I will be interested to see how much it will sell. So far, only mobile VR seems to produce great sales numbers so hopefully, they won't be the only place where VR is successful. Yea yea long term but we need something to talk about now.

I don't entirely disagree with you. Have you given VR a try?
