OT: I can't see them pushing the reveal all the way to march, but if it's not shown this month, I can see them waiting until January.

Nintendo also showed us that they dont follow a pattern so anything can happen. I find this situation deja vu to SSB for WiiU 2 years ago. Every1 was saying the game would be delayed because it was already mid oct and yet nintendo says "well ssbu coming out 3 weeks from now".

Difference here is a console being revealed this month or the next (heck even dec) still means they have 3-4months tp promote the thing lol.

It was shown E3 2013 and released Oct 2014, a year and 3 months after reveal.

Don`t really see that working. How many kids do you expect will think `hey, who needs a new console when I wake up xmas morning if I can have one 3 months later instead`?

Maybe kids aren't the only target audience. Release March for us older folks, then get a black friday deal for the kids that want it next holiday season. But adults who want it need to know a price, release date, name, how many release games it has, ect. 

 

It may surprise you to know, but most kids don't get consoles day 1 anyways, especially in a time when consoles cost $300- $500.

I kinda agree with numberwang here. The holiday season is really important and it would be a mistake to miss it. And by that, I mean that they need to either reveal the console before Christmas (to finally give something to talk about and avoid some PS4/One sales), or to release it next holiday season. A March reveal for a summer release would be a huge mistake. Sales and broad audience's interest are low at this period.

If they don't reveal it before Christmas 2016, they need to wait for E3 2017 and make a conference again for a holiday 2017 release. But the more they wait, the more people buy other consoles.

NX was likely never planned for a March release in the first place. Think about it, software for Wii U dries out, production has ceased, but to please investors this year and delay the bad news of bad Wii U support Nintendo claimed they WILL have a new platform by Q1 2017.

Your conclusion is flawed. Why would any company discontinue a product line without definite plans of its successor? Nintendo had planned on NX being launched this holiday and at E3 they basically announced the delayed March launch to allow finalization of possibly hardware and definitely software.

Would not surprise me, but will make 2017 particularly frustrating for Nintendo fans.

Because they know there is enough Wii Us out in circulation. If it sells roughly a million a year and you got 3 million in the market, there really is no need to keep producing the machine (just an example). You cut a TON of production losses and overstock by stopping production. 

 

I mean, if you have more than what you need on the market, why continue production?
