Because they know there is enough Wii Us out in circulation. If it sells roughly a million a year and you got 3 million in the market, there really is no need to keep producing the machine (just an example). You cut a TON of production losses and overstock by stopping production.
I mean, if you have more than what you need on the market, why continue production?
