Forums - Gaming - Will the PS4 Pro's improved CPU/GPU improve frame rates on existing games?

Considering the Xbox One S had a minor improvement in its GPU speeds(the CPU remained unchanged) and that resulted in slightly better frame rates on some existing games, is it fair to say that some standard PS4 designed games will also benefit with the Pro? The Pro has improved memory bandwidth also. Could this naturally improve frame rates on games with unlocked frame rates?

They will most likely have more stable framerates, I doubt the framedrops are locked^^

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

24% more memory bandwidth
31% CPU increase
2.3x the GPU

Non-Pro games should see something of an improvement surely.

It should, unless it runs games without a pro patch in some sort of safe compatibility mode with the original clock speeds and half the GPU Compute units disabled.

Yea, I would imagine it would if the XBO S does. Probably not a huge increase, but maybe something like a 5 FPS improvement.

I'm pretty sure Sony will downclock CPU/GPU and lock the additional GPU cores for PS4 compatibility mode, as different games react differently to tasks being completed at different than expected times and Sony wants to ensure 100% compatibility.
