More reason to wait till revision 2 for me.

Yes, Mark Cerny said they plan to destroy the Sun before the 2017 holidays, so, let´s keep our fingers crossed =)

To be honest, I will have to wait too. Importers want 1000 dollars for the VR in Brazil, plus 100 dollars for the Playstation Eye. They call it "Novelty Tax".

"1000 dollars for the VR in Brazil"

Da faq??? That is craycray

I would be more concerned about eye strain and potential long term consequences. These things (all VR) are in the primordial ooze stages. They're not really ready for mass consumption. But since people want it, these guys are gonna push it out there to try an make a buck.

There have been a number of highly educated doctors and scientists lately who've warned about wearing current VR tech with regards to our eyes. I think it's better if people hold off and take a wait and see approach.

Besides, if it bombs, do you really want to look back and say you spent hundreds of dollars on your generations Sega CD?

Look at this insanity, camera not included...

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Well, the PC headsets released back in march and are in the hands of hundreds of thousends of users, yet afaik there haven't been any reports about ppl damaging their eyes. Obviously you shouldn't overdo it, but I don't see why up to 2-3h a day should have any negative effect.

Btw as the lenses focal point is about 2.5 meters (8 feet) away from the user after you configured everything to your needs it should be less straining to your eyes than reading things on your PC monitor.

I'm more worried about these VR units not getting much in terms of software support.

This sun problem too, of course.

Damn, I thought these scalpers were bad

At least shops will sell it for CAD 550 if they can get any stock. HTC Vive however doesn't seem to be coming to shops and is CAD 1725 online.

I think sun-damage is pretty easy to avoid when you are informed about that being a problem. Sony probably has a warning in the menu, maybe even in the quick start guide, but I think it can't hurt to give this a bit more visibility in forums etc.

Yes, it's pretty easy. I say it's a huge issue because they didn't informed anyone or put on the manuals, so you could do that accidentally. As soon as the box/manual clearly states that it can be on sunlight, it's good to go.

If it however can really be damaged in a few minutes, then that's an issue, simply because any distraction and a couple hundreds of dollars are gone.

There's a goldmine of jokes to be had about VR enthusiasts fearing the sun!

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
