Yeah, I know...
But that Uncharted comment really stung. Your wit is second to none.

@ starcraft
Bioshock was nowhere near 25 hours long; I completed it twice in 20. You could've used Oblivion as an example though.
@ Legend11
UT3 was slowed down for PS3 so it could be played with a gamepad, not because the PS3 couldn't handle the engine. It will be the same on 360.
@ FaRmLaNd
Not that I expect Gears 2 to turn up on PS3, but being published by MS doesn't mean it couldn't be released on other platforms. This argument gets touted all the time when talking about exclusives, but plenty of games have had multiple publishers; it just depends on the specificities of the contract.
OT: Gears wasn't short because it was on DVD, so BD isn't necessary for Gears 2, but if they make it much longer than the original, they need to think about diversifying the gameplay. One crappy vehicle segment is not gonna be enough the second time around.

Lost Odyssey is stored on 4 DVDs, this games could have fit on just 1 blu-ray disc because the capacity on 1 BD is their to allow such a big game to just fit, the same thing can be said about blue dragon which stores it's game on 3 DVD's, all I'm saying is that these 2 games validate the usefulness of the capacity the blu-ray discs have. As for gears, the multiplayer aspect is what stops the game from being split into multiple discs being that all multiplayer content has to be accessible from 1 disc so that online play is seamless and not painful, having said that of course, one could say that the game could have been split onto 2 discs, 1 for single player and 1 for multplayer, but since they choose to release all content on just 1 dvd. This makes me assume that they didn't have enough single play contentment to justify it's own dvd and their also wasn't enough multiplayer content to justify it's dvd, which is why everything was simply put onto 1 dvd, theirs also the fact that they must have been under some time constraint to release the game. |
1. They could be on one disc instead of 3 or 4 is not a validation. Try telling us how not switching discs would make the game ITSELF better.
2. You can put the multiplayer on its own disc if it comes to that. And no, switching discs is not enough to mean that would magically prove DVD is too small. The whole game would still be on those discs.

Gears was about 7 gigs.....there was more space...they just didnt use it.
Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.
Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

My opinion, is if you delivered those exact same games on one disk and not 3 or 4, it offers very little to nothing to the gamer. But where Blu-Ray really does make a difference, is it holds a lot more then 3 or 4 DVD's worth of information. If the creators of Lost Odyssey had the Blu-Ray to work with, I bet they would have delivered a different game. They would have cut less corners. I am sure if they were given the space, they would have filled it up, and the conumer would have benefited from it.
That's where Blu-Ray makes a difference.

Umm GTAIV is going to have around 80-100 hours of gameplay, what more are you expecting? That's a lot more than Uncharted and Heavenly Sword put together... So no I don't think the 360 is ruining multiplatform games.

You forget filling up the space would mean more time and resources, which would mean more cost. What if the only had the money to make the game they made. Furthermore, what corners do you assume were cut? And please don't give me story elements. Those could have been left out for artistic reasons, not storage reasons.

Grand Theft Auto 1, 2, and London were 2D. It seems you forgot that part. It would therefore take up less room to have all that ground space.

There are huge amounts of details, loads of interiers, tons of weapons, different skins, loads of different NPCs, vehicles, and large soundtrack, there are tons of stuff to fit on the DVD, but I doubt that many games are really filling DVDs to the brim
