Forums - Nintendo - NX Could have VR and AR. In fact the device could be based around VR and AR

1) AR isnt well suited for games, and its much more resource heavy to do so than VR is.
I dont consider pokemon Go to be real AR, because its just a 2D sprite basically plastered onto a cam background, without reguard for the world its in. A Tablet with a phone chip, isnt going to be capable of doing real AR.  Real AR is what Microsoft is trying to do with its Hololense.

2) If the NX tablet is light enough, and you can pull off the controller unit on the sides, so you just have a tablet screen left..... I could see there being a headset you can slide it into like a VR phone set. This would be a much worse VR experiance than PSVR or OR/Vive, but like the phone thing it would be enough to get a "idea" of what VR is like.

I highly doubt either turns out to be true though.

Imagining what Nintendo NX COULD be is pretty much a virtual reality game in and of itself.

I don´t know man, but it´s been a while since a video game related thing bothered me this much.
I wish Nintendo would at least say when they will say something...

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Goodness, I hope not.

Nintendo confirmed the NX will play their mobile games. And Pokemon GO seen through a headset in AR would attract a lot of customers. Yes it's simple 2D sprites on the camera image but with added head tracking it would be pretty cool. I own the Samsung (everything they make seams to be exploding including washing machines!) Gear VR and it has a passthrough camera feature but I am not aware of any game that uses it.

No thanks. After the note 7 fiasco no way I'm putting a device with a battery directly in front of my eyes in a head gear sort of manner

I use the Galaxy S7 handset with my Gear VR headset and it's perfectly safe. The S7 has been out for a while now with no problems. I do affectionately refer to my S7 phone as my Molotov 7 though.

Of course it could be since we have yet to have any official info on the system, but I hope not..

Miyamoto and Reggie haven't had a lot of positive things to say about VR in recent interviews. They probably wouldn't be negative towards it if their new game system was designed entirely around VR.

I've been saying VR is a possibility for a while now and Amazon seem to think NX will have VR.

It's just surely going to be basic VR though. An advanced easy setup version of google cardboard type VR. You just drop the tablet into the visor and play.

The battery isn't an issue. Nintendo go for cheap mature tried and tested technology that they can make good profit on. Not only that but the lenses and plastic body keeps the tablet away from the user's eyes etc.

To be honest this is the only thing that makes sense of the performance box. The performance box sits nearby to generate superior VR graphics for the visor which are transmitted to the tablet in the visor.

Personally I'd rather they eliminated the performance box and made the tablet as powerful as possible and gave it a 1080p screen rather than 720p.

I hope also that the tablet has 2 rear facing cameras for 3D augmented reality. 720p or 1080p cameras will be fine. and the visor could then generate gameplay based on the rear world. I.e. a platform game where the characters climb around your living room or bedroom or you shoot zombies trying to get in your window. Lots of stuff can be done to a good level with hardware below ps4/xbone.

Lol. No. I bet that NX won't have to do anything with VR. 100% sure.
