So that makes me right with the dungeon games being srpgs.

Again I don't know exactly the game you are talking about but I am going to guess no. If it is just the one person then it is not a srpg but a dungeon crawler. It may seem like a silly distinction but the games play completely different.

Here is a vid of it. It uses some things that you mentioned. Some moves have distance, and are effected by the enivronment. You could also link moves, and you have a team with you.

First off, fuck you for making me watch that painful video. I want to jam a fork in my eyes to end the pain. Secondly that game looks to be running in real time and mostly focusing on one character ala Secret of Mana. That makes it an arpg I believe. Turn based is a big thing for srpg. Look up a video of Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, Disgaea, or Advance Wars to get an idea.

LoL. Sorry I didn't even watch the video myself. Just saw gameplay and embedded it.Ok I get it now.

What I think would be fun would be to control the Pokemon like in Brawl, complete with normal A-button melee attacks, and four different directional B-button attacks. After all, each PKMN is only supposed to get four moves anyhow. Four directions + the B-button = perfect.

I'd be TOTALLY stoked for a PKMN game with that type of combat.

Pokemon is a turn based RPG being that the pokemon take turns at attacking each other.

Now what I would love is a proper pokemon game for the wii, non of this off shoot crap, but a proper game, just like the hand held version and here is a list of what I would like:-

-Beautiful 3D graphics with fluid animation for all attacks and pokemon.
-Deeper storyline.
-fully voiced characters.
-keep it turn based.
-make battles happen with in the environment the battle started from.
-have environmental damage depending on the attacks.
-allow the player to explore every known region with in the pokemon world as well as allow the player to collect all the badges from each of the regions gyms.
-online trading and online battles.

if pearl was that then that would be amzing....

oh yeah, pokemon needs to go back to the 16 badge format

those were the best and prolonged the game for a good bit of time.

 That would be awesome

I'm not disputing that Pokemon is an RPG, but it's never felt like a real RPG to me. More like an adventure game with turn based battles and lots of collecting. It's like many of Nintendo’s games, they seem to borrow elements of RPGs without actually created a traditional game for the genre. Maybe that's just me...

I wouldn’t be disappointed with another DS game in the same style as D/P even if it's just a remake of G/S or a third version (Emerald was fairly unique for a 3rd version). That's not to say I wouldn't like to see a main entry to the series in 3D that ditches the 'evil team' (it was old in G/S), it’s time the main character had real strife to resolve. Both real time and turn based could work well, but I guess it’s a case of why change what isn't broken? I can’t see GF changing battles to real time on a permanent basis because the current style has gradually built into a complex system over the years - there doesn't seem to be a reason to mess with it. As a one off I'd like to try a new style but on the whole wouldn't want the core games to change.

I think Pokemon is a adventure/ROG game, it mixes elements from both genres. I would not like a real-time pokemon RPG but something needs to be done to refresh the series.

Pokemon needs a new storyline.

Every game (that I've played) plays the same as the one that came before it which amounts to collect pokemon, win gym badges, beat Elite Four, beat Rival.

I think it could be more interesting if it had a real storyline...
