Exactly.  And kowenicki just proved that the Japan market is pretty much equal to the UK.  Isn't it funny how you can say that and at the same time act like Japan isn't important.

The ps4 will get 8m+ sales easily in Japan this gen. Considering how the xb1 is selling WW Microsoft would absolutely love that.

Possibly.  But thats poor for a playstation in Japan (not "remarkably well").  Paricularly when there is little competition.

It's certainly down from the others, but I wouldn't call it poor, due to the deteriorating interest in home consoles in Japan. I do expect the NX to do quite well there, given its supposed hybrid configuration, but I have to admit that the ps4 has done better these past two years than I expected (granted, my expectations were quite low).

Hah I was mostly talking about tech...  I suppose there's probably a few non-tech companies that have caught on there.

Is KFC as huge in Japan as it is in China? Never been to Japan but while in Beijing I was chocked to find a three story KFC in the dead center of town lol

Youtube is the most visited site even with their  "NicoNico". The thing with consoles is that Microsoft did not released any game with Japanese appeal and  is unable to make companies release japanese games for the Xbox One.

Unable? More like unwilling. Everyone was willing to give them a chance during the 360 days because they tried. They stopped trying once Robbie Bach left.

Who is Robbie Bach ?

Mattrick's predecessor. He's the reason Tales of Vesperia was an Xbox 360 exclusive and sold more than two hundred units (and probably two hundred consoles) in Japan.

He's also the reason Lost Odyssey was a thing, FF went multi and we had BB without Akshit...

Sounds like he did a lot of good for Xbox.  Do you think he left because he knew they were going to stop investing in Japan?

FF Multiplataform is a thing, now the series is multiplataform. Sad move for Microsoft, they chose an ex-EA's Ceo(Mattrick) to run the Xbox's division.

I kinda wish we have trackers for other Asian markets like Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, etc. so we have a general idea of the market trends in Asia, not just Japan.

Most of Asia (not just japan):

the gif is good ^^ so is the situation.

What the... XBone japan total is 68k?

i only know its selling poor in japan but 68k total in 3 years is really much worst than i thought...

yes, its really interesting. ONE WEEK(PS4) versus 3 years(Xbox) and the one week wins.

Not even the 1st time the PS4 outsold the Xbox One in a week(December 2014 when the Metal Slime DQ PS4 was released), but its funny every time it happens or gets close it. Not implying you don't know this.

Since we are on Vgchartz and we like to compare console sales,  comparisons,  milestones etc I decided to make this a thread.

Here is something you don't see a lot.  Ps4 this week sold 96k in Japan.  To date the lifetime sales of XB1 are 68k. It has managed to easily outsell it's LTD.

Not many would have predicted this happening before the gen started at least not this well into it.  The XB and XB360 sold sufficiently that this wasn't possible after a certain period into last gen and the one before.

But here we are.  Yet another milestone for the ps4. Next up,  passing the Wii U in Japan.

Not surprised, and this will happen so many other times :)
