New Metal Gear Survive Trailer Overwhelmingly Disliked on YouTube

Probably not what Konami would have wanted.

The new Metal Gear Survive trailer, which provided the first extended look at the series spinoff following the first teaser, is not going over well on YouTube. The video has a less-than-great like to dislike ratio.

At press time, the video has 1,065 likes and 14,402 dislikes (via Kotaku).

Comments are all over the place. Some said they enjoyed the video, but thought the game might have been better-received without the Metal Gear name attached to it. Others were more blunt in their assessments, with comments like "Konami can't survive" and "#F**kKonami."

The new gameplay video was released over the weekend as part of the Tokyo Game Show. The 15-minute video shows off co-op gameplay, with a team of soldiers working together to defend a base against zombies.

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima says he had no hand in designing Metal Gear Survive. He also recently said it's odd that a Metal Gear game would have zombies in it.

YouTube comments and dislikes are not necessarily indicative of anything. The announcement trailer for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was also heavily disliked, but what effect that has on sales remains to be seen.

Konami has said Metal Gear Survive will not cost $60. Instead, it will be "somewhere in the vicinity" of what Ground Zeroes cost at launch, which was $30. The game is due to launch for Xbox One, PS4, and PC in 2017.

Kojima's first post-Konami game is Death Stranding, which is in the works for PS4 and PC. At TGS this past week, the veteran game designer shared new details about it, while he also revealed it will feature a female hero and may come out in 2018.

I just don't get it.

The game looks good... Why bashing it like that?
This is not Metal Gear Solid 6... And Konami said it.

But having a spin off is not a bad thing. Also, if you watch the 15 minutes gameplay from TGS the game have a lot of Metal Gear 5 elements into it as well a connection with the black hole extractions which explains the "world" in which the game is. What is wrong with that.
On top of that, looking at the gameplay, the game looks quite cool and I can see myself and 3 of my friends playing this.

I'm actually looking forward to it.

Side note: I find it really hilarious for Hideo Kojima to comment about how Zombies fit into the world of Metal Gear when you see all the weird shit happening in all Metal Gear games (I love them all :))

I'd rather get bashed in the head with a MSX until my brain is deformed into chibi Big Boss and the Konami execs eat it for dinner than play this.

Well, I feel like it's not the game itself that these people are disliking. It's the general behaviour of Konami until now. They burned up all of their gaming bussiness, treated their employees like shit, harassed their main minds until they left, announced they were done with AAA games and used their franchises as skins for pachinko... And now, they are trying to come back after all that, and they do it in the most cynical and unoriginal way. Of course it looks good, it's the FOX engine, it's one of the best looking engines around, but that doesn't make up for the company's actions.

That I can understand :) About disliking Konami.

But if you look at the comments (on the YouTube for instance) people are bashing the game like it looks super crap which is not the case at all in my oppinon.
The game look pretty interresting to me (gameplay wise too).

I don't want spinoffs, i want mainline MGS games, and that's why my friends I disliked it.

They basically took all the art assets from mgs5 and repurposed them.
What a shame.

I'd pirate this, I mean if its MGSV gameplay its worth a play at least.
