Did someone not say it was San Diegos second team?  Not the MLB one.

That comment was made before clarification.

But I'm skeptical about the future of the studio. The Driveclub studio got the boot after releasing a multi million seller.

San Diego release their game on schedule every year and it's almost the same game like most annual sports titles.  budget would be modest.  It's also a million plus seller.

Evolution fucked up big time and it no doubt went way over budget.

Yes Sony could close San Diego.  But I don't see it. Not aslong as they keep selling well every year.

The reality is that you cannot afford to make a bad game in this day and age.

I think most F2P titles will face this doom and the teams along with it. I can't see Drawn to Death, Let it Die or Sea of Thieves doing well.

I hear ya, but its an annual sports games that sells much less than other annual sports games. It struggles past a million and the PS3 may lose support due to poor numbers. Other sports sell well on various platforms, not just PS4.

Driveclub could have become an annual or a bi-annual IP. The foundation was set and driving games certainly have more appeal global appeal than baseball games. So even if the budget was bigger, it could have paid off in the long run with numerous releases. In the holiday of 2014, I would have predicted a Driveclub 2 around this time.

Anywho, I'm just skeptical about the studio's future. I didn't say are definitely gonna close.

Nah fuck that.  I'm still getting through a few expansions from driveclub.  The last thing I want is it annual or bi annual.  Every 4 years would do.  Especially with gran turismo.

I'd have taken a Motorstorm PS4 next year instead but sadly that's not likely to ever happen unless they hire codemasters to do it.  Highly unlikely.

MLB sells around 1.5 million lifetime on PS3 + PS4. However, the cost for the license, development, marketing, etc is actually quite a bit

Common sense. Games don't make themselves you know.

Boy, if you want a Driveclub every 4 years then you must hate annual baseball games.

The wait time between Gran Turismo games is arguably too long. I get the impression Sony wants them out faster as well but tolerates the delays.

They could potentially make a spiritual successor to Motorstorm. I'm actually a fan of PSP/PS2 release, it was a pretty straight forward arcade racer.
