Sony announced the PS4 9 months before launch. Now, if they announce it this month, that'll be on par with MS's 6 months. But, if they don't do it soon, they aren't going to have time to hype it, explain the hybrid concept to the masses, or iron out any kinks in their HW/policies that the public may dislike. They're already going to have a time trying explain why gamers should want a gaming tablet/hybrid console that's not even on par with XBO and more in line with being a Wii U Pro.

They said several times they don't reveal "NX too soon because competition could still they idea". End of September early October, they will definitely not revile it at TGS.

In 2016/2017 you really don't need more than around 4-6 months to reveal product before launch.

 I've heard rumors coming from all directions. I've heard it's weaker than Xbone, that it's only as powerful as Wii-U, that it's more powerful than PS4 Pro, etc. Granted those rumors about it being weaker than Xbone are a lot more prevalent, but rumors are just rumors after all. Noone really knows, and all the guessing at this point seems to be hurting Nintendo more than helping them.

Well we also don't know for sure that it will even launch within 6 months. My guess is they haven't announced it because they're not ready to make it yet which means it won't be releasing in March...

And where does info about the strength (or lack thereof) of any NDAs come from?

Nintendo several times confirmed March like release date, if they are not ready or there is possibility for delay they would never confirmed every time March like release date. And they basicly said last year we dont want to revile to soson.

That actualy very small leak for console that will be launched in 6 monts, compare that with leaks with WiiU/PS4/XB1/PS4Pro and you will see that NX NDA is very tight.

 And they basicly said last year "we dont want to revile to soon beacuse of competion".

Nope. They're going to have a press event, and they'll need to give them time to schedule their trips. So no. Sorry.

He didn't have much of a choice at the time; it was mentioned almost in the same breath as the announcement of the DeNA partnership - so's to assure that the partnership didn't mean they were abandoning the dedicated console business.

But I agree, 18 months is a huge void for rumours and hearsay to fill.

Can the reveal really happen this week? They'd probably want to give people some time to prep for the reveal, rather than do it so suddenly and not give people time to prepare...

with something as important at next gen hardware reveal nintendo will announce the announcement by at least 3 days. ...but probably by 7 days.

it's important to get people to put the announcement on their schedule to maximize viewership.

Scorpio and PS4 Pro aren't "next gen" machines. They're upgrades to PS4 and Xbox One. PS4 Pro has the word "PS4" in it for crying out loud. NX is a brand new machine so, what you said doesn't make any sense.

I suspect Nintendo is keeping this all close to the vest because they're tinkering with just the right PR. It probably has nothing to do with hardware.

Lol, uh, might want to look up when the PS4 and XBO were announced and when they were released. Here's a hint, it was all in the same year.

I recently read an interview where the person being interviewed was able to say just about nothing about NX despite saying the company and himself was in constant contact with Nintendo. When asked about the NDA, he could not even comment on that. It does seem the NDA on this console is the real deal.

We actually probably know MORE about the NX than we ever did Wii or Wii U before launch.

LoZ BOTW is said to have roughly the same graphics on both consoles.

Reggie stated NX is NOT looking to have super powerful tech

Iwata (RIP) stated $250 was the price point for which he believes Nintendo sells and were aiming for that.

We know it will use cartridges.

We know they planned (or at least lied to investors) that the console will release March 2017.

Tell mebwhat other console we knew as much about before a official reveal ever.
