Forums - Sony - Sony is going to give up portables?

Vita is somehow alive in Japan and dead everywhere else. Vita failure is going to be enough for them to give up portables forever? PSP had a pretty solid campaign, but the competition with smartphones is too much, even for Nintendo. I think if Sony somehow makes a cross over of dedicated handheld and a smartphone it coudl have some chance, just like Xperia Play, but it being good.

The Vita didn't fail. The human race did. Enjoy your smartphone games and underwater coastal cities.

Somehow I get the feeling that this is the funniest thing I've ever read on VGChartz.

bet: lost

They gave up a long time ago

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Maybe but idk how much of a difference a Sony phone dedicated to gaming will make since Sony phone sales aren't exactly booming. One of the best moves that the company made in the past was putting flagship specs into their smaller smartphones where as everyone else lowered their specs on their smaller smartphone variants. But this year, Sony did the same as everyone else.

So maybe they should try something with it and see how many people will bite but I am not gonna be optimistic about it.

I think Sony should just exit the handheld market and focus on their consoles where they thrive in.

And 3DSs :D

Sony gave up on the Vita really quickly and abandoned it, so i'm not sure some people would even have any faith or trust in Sony to support another handheld if they tried again. It's still sad looking at the Vita, Sony could have done so much more. But yeah I think it's pretty obvious they've given up at this point. I don't see them wanting to take away any development teams or resources from their main money maker, AKA the PS4 which is basically why they abandoned the Vita so quickly in the first place, one was selling well while the other wasn't.

Wait, did Sony made a portable?

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Didn't they already admit they were going to? Or is my memory failing me?
