Forums - Sony - Why does PS4 Pro not have an option for 60fps?

Which do you prefer for Pro?

1080p60fps with a lot better graphics 118 81.38%

2K60fps with better graphics 12 8.28%

4K30fps upscaled with better graphics 7 4.83%

4K60fps upscaled with similar graphics 8 5.52%

Total:145

PS4 Pro was revealed to support 4K and HDR. That's awesome and its quite an upgrade over PS4 but why is there not an option to play games at 60fps? With PS4 Pro's power 1080p60fps is possible on all current gen games and as most people still don't have 4K TV's it would be more of a selling point to have games at 1080p60fps with HDR and better graphical settings.

I don't have a 4K television and I would have considered it if it supported better graphics and framerate rather than a higher resolution.

It would also be better if all Sony published games so far on PS4 had graphical upgrades on Pro, as so far not all seem to have that.

I'm pretty sure that Sony already confirmed that games will get better performance with PS4 Pro as well, like how Rise of the Tomb Raider has a 1080p 60 FPS setting.

for what i got from presentation. if you use a full HD tv instead of a 4k one, ps4 pro will adapt the game setting for its tv. more effects, more antialiasing, etc. but no 60 fps? yeah, should be nice to choose 60 fps instead of better antialiasing...

Actually, that has a 45+ fps setting, not 60.

Its cause while they upgraded the gpu, the cpu is still weak sauce and only got clocked a bit higher. So the result is, higher visuals but more stable framerates. Not double...

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

It is up to the developer same as it has always been.

Why? CPU and possibly sometimes even RAM.

If 1.6GHz is already limiting games to 30fps and slightly up you don't get to 60fps with a sligthtly upclocked CPU. You need a two times faster one or one with way better IPC etc.>double the speed with less than twice the clock.

your poll sucks because 60fps is not better "graphics"

FPS doesn't improve the graphics at all, thats why many games choose (sadly) not to use it.
FPS improves the stability of the displayed graphics and makes the experience smoother.

Obviously I would love for consoles to put 60FPS as a requirement for almost all games, sometimes a single player experience can be enhanced by pushing everything into the graphics, like uncharted, but for most games I prefer the smoother experience.

I wish every game had this option but not (just) on the pro.

The PS4 Pro should have had a better CPU. It will be outdated next year when Scorpio launches with better specs, which was a huge selling point for PS4 over XB1. Sony have started to make bad choices again with their hardware.

Considering PS4 Pro's hardware,  every game in the next few years should achieve 1080p/60fps and ultra settings easily (bar stupid things like hairworks and such). If this will not be the case, then the whole purpose of this console will be gone for those who don't care about higher resolutions, that is the majority of people waiting for the pro.

That's why I stated framerate and graphical settings separately.
