I quickly scanned the thread title and thought it said "Earthbound - Why the high price?" lol.  This game is going for insane prices online right now... around $150 loose and in the $700 range for the complete-in-box set w/ strategy guide.  I played EB at a friend's house back in the day and thought it was OK, and I've since given it a whirl by playing it via, ahem, other means, but just couldn't really get into it.

Compared to other RPGs, it's pretty unique, and it's pretty much a parody that sorta pokes fun at some common tropes of other RPGs.

The witty dialogue makes it that much more memorable.



"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
