Forums - Gaming - I want to know your opinion between a PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio battle

So...

Xbox Scorpio 164 33.68%

PS4 Pro 213 43.74%

None. I'm cool with my console. 72 14.78%

Here's my point of view: PlayStation could not sell PS4 Pro via stream. I watched on my smartphone on the bus, and even the HDR looked worst than normal.

HDR enhances colors, it makes the blacks even more black, so I could only barely see Aloy's face on the 4K gameplay of Horizon.

However, all the media and people at the event confirmed that the game looked much better.

Xbox made a smart move with S by allowing people to watch 4K bluray disk at $299, and that's sad for PS4 Pro. On the other hand, PS4 enabled every console so far with HDR, so you don't have to buy another console for extra color fidelity.

Now, even if Microsoft made another 180 on their word about the "graphics is not the most important", I still don't see people waiting over an year to play on Scorpio for five reasons:

1. More than one year lead.

2. Games will not look better than PS4 in a significant way. You can compare with PC as a preview on this topic.

3. Good price: $399.

4. Impressive exclusives that are not on PC: Persona 5, Bloodborne, inFamous, Horizon, Spider-man, etc.

5. All PS4 will have VR support, not only Xbox Scorpio.

Now, about a PS4 Slim and a Xbox One S battle, that's a complicated matter for Sony. Xbox is smiling.

This is all common sense yet people still pretend that X1 is in some kind of equal race with PS4.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

My opinion is that both are unnecessary for the short term and that battle is just one sided anyways. I also view that people defend companies way to easily, namely at the start of the generation people were claiming the opposite.

Ps4/Pro has games that I can only play on those systems, xbox 1/Scorpio has games I can play on my PC. So for me, while I really hate the lack of UHD player, I will buy the Pro in the end and not the Scorpio. I might buy the x1s as a UHD player however.

Just seems stupid I have to buy a seperate thing to play UHD blurays from Sony of all people.

I have a PS4 I have a gaming PC but I prefer console gaming on most games altough I do play more on the PC (Civilization, Total war, simulation games) but I finish more games, like assassins creed, uncharted etc on my console :)

Anyway, bigg speech for a small answer, There where 2 things in my mind

1) I would upgrade to PS4 Pro and trade in my old PS4 for a XBox One to play all games
2) I would buy the project scorpio and put it next to my PS4

Since I want to own both consoles, the ball was at Sony this week, but the lack of UHD and the underwhelming improvement over my current PS4 make it option 2, I am saving up for the scorpio.

I do think the PS4 Pro is an amazing device for people who are buying their first PS4 but upgrading is a no go for me personally :)

It's confirmed that the scorpio will be more powerful? But anyways I think they're good options for people who haven't bought the console yet but it's not worth the upgrade (imo) unless if you can get it for cheap lol

I believe Sony will reveal a new model to compete against the Scorpio. It will generate 6Tf or even maybe 8Tf of processing power.

Microsoft announced their specs way too early and Sony will capitalize on that.

Now, regarding an eventual Scorpio vs PS4 Pro scenario, I will most likely keep my current PS4 and get either a NX to play Nintendo games or build a better PC to play Microsoft exclusives.

I don't see the point of the Scorpio, specially if you can play all their games on a cheaper PC.

I will be waiting for Scorpio.

Scorpio seems to be a new generation console, PS4 Pro is just like a PS4.5

The real battle (reality) is between the PS4Pro and XB1/360 consumers. MS will be doing all they can to stop XB1/360 owners from going over to Sony and Sony will be doing all they can to make sure they do.

The PS5 Exists.

Neither for now unless I can see what either really offer as value to add to base models.
