Since the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles went from wired to wireless, which means that connecting with a USB cable will only charge the controller while the connection is still wireless. With the new PS4 controller which also will be bundle in PS4 pro and PS4 Slim that will change, it will become really wired like on older consoles decreasing latency if connected via USB.

Better than the current PS4 controller sure but it's no arcade stick or 6 button pad that already connect by USB.
