Forums - Gaming - $400 PC VS PS4 Pro

My PC is long overdue. But I also was considering yet on the fence about getting a 4K TV in december, when I'll get my bonus from my job.

My PC can't run most of the games that have been released the last 2 or so years. So I've been playing on my consoles almost exclusively. When I'll be fed up of my current PC, I know it's going to cost me quite a bit (most likely around the last stretch of the current console gen)...

Now that I've seen what the PS4 Pro can do, I'll be upgrading to it when it comes out, just in time for FF XV no less. And I'll be able to get the TV to take advantage of it all roughly 3 weeks later. For about the price that a new PC would cost me (one that's build to my liking), I'll get a HDR 4K TV and a PS4 Pro. Now, considering my current PC is hooked up to my TV in my living room, I will already be ready for 4K PC gaming when the time for my new rig comes.

Besides, most of the games I'm most hyped for aren't (yet) coming to PC: FF XV, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last Guardian, God of War, Detroit: Become Human...

Exactly.

And in a few years the ps4 price will be even lower aswell so it will always be the best budget option.

Then the ps5 comes out and the cycle starts again.  You can see why console gaming remains relevant.  Just so easy and cheap to get into. No hassle.

You are forgetting that the cost of PC Hardware drops pretty fast, and also are forgetting that if a person spends 600 to build a PC today not only will they be beating the PS4pro in graphics but will of saved the extra 200 difference thanks to not needing PSPlus for online gaming.

Then once nextgen starts it will be even cheaper 200-300 for them to upgrade their PC and happy beat the PS5.

Same if a user got a 600 PC at the start of the gen. extra cost would of been saved thanks to not needing PSPlus and it would only cost them about 200-300 to beat the PS4pro now.

This is what annoys be when console gamers talk about PC since they seem to leave a lot out.

But if I was on pc I wouldn't be subscribed to ps plus which gives me so many free games for just 50 euro a year. That's insane value.  I have a backlog of ps plus games alone (only counting the ones I like).

And on top of that the pc would use more electricity than the ps4. People always forget that which adds up to a fair amount every year in extra bills.

Aswell as that we can trade in our games so there's that if you are not all digital.

For 50 € you can also buy a lot of humble bundles (you only buy the tiers that interest you) or other bundles with games that interest you. Plus Humble/Steam/GoG sales. Plus the free stuff from Origin (On the House, Trials, Betas, Free weekends for some games), Ubisoft (Ubi 30, free weekends for some games), Steam (free weekends for some games), Indie Gala and other digital stores.

IF we are going to go with Free games PC has plenty of them and some of the biggest in the world too such as TF2, Dota, SWTOR, EvE, LoL, etc.

Then you can sign up to Origin access for like 4 euro a month or the is a bunch of other subscription services on the PC for about the same price that offers 1000's of Paid pc games. Thing is on PC its optional and your not forced into it to play online.

And are you really using electricty bills as an advantage?, this just shows me how far PC gaming has come if this is now an advantage.

Since your using traded games as an advantage i guess i should tell you PC users can also pirate if they like, Sure they will miss out on online or be stuck playing with other pirates but the option is still there, devs still lose money in both cases.

Then you have options on the PC to refund your game many smaller games can be played within 2 hours (Dirty tactic i know)

The is also Emulation on PC so your have your whole backlog of console games to choose from and play even if your original is broke.

Console gamers can also pirate.  See the ps3, ps2, PS3, Xbox 360 etc.  Emulators work there aswell.

You could have w pc that costs you $200 extra a year In electricy bills over a console.  That's a lot.

And I wasn't talking about free to play games.  They don't come with ps plus.  Only paid games.

Humble bundle are also starting on console now aswell as many of the formerly pc only free to play games.  This week for example star trek online came out.

You can say pc players generally get them first but you can say that about many AAA titles being late to PC. Gta V a good example.  Out long before on ps3 and even ps4. Red dead still hasn't been ported and FFXV is another example coming up.

Ps3/ps4 also have insane deals between USA / EU psn. I've bought most of my games in thr last 2 years for $3-$5. So sales aren't exclusive to PC.

The entry price will always favour consoles.  the ps4 slim will get down to $199 before the gen is over and the 4k pro will get down to under $300 at least.

Next year PS4 will cross 70/75m sold after just 4 years. The mass market loves pc but it also loves consoles as the sales show. They see it as a great value and hassle free entry into gaming.  Buying the box,  plug it in and play.  Easy.

I would buy (well I will) the PS4 Pro, but that is me and my sony loving.
