Forums - Nintendo - Emily Rogers: NX Below XB1/PS4 In Power; Battery Life Is Not Great

I mean, seeing as it's supposed to be a portable + home console, I think this is probably very accurate. Modern cellphones maybe put out a quarter of the power that PS4 and Xbone can do, and they can cost upwards of $700. We all know that Nintendo usually prefers to take the more cost effective route. I'm honestly expecting it to be about equal to Wii-U, which, if it is a dedicated portable, is still pretty damn impressive.

I just wish Nintendo would stop making us suffer through insider info and rumors, and just reveal the damn thing. I really want to see it.

With that being the case, get ready for a gen of "that looks great, for a nx game. It can be impressive as he'll for a handheld, but when looking at what it can honestly offer for a home console, then What? It's supposed to replace both

They could do it using the tech they have available. I'm pretty sure they could go the whole SCD dock route. Two Tegra X2s in unison IMO would get you pretty close to XB1/PS4 graphics on the TV.

But I just have a bad feeling Nintendo will gimp this thing.

If what she says is true, I hope they improve on the battery life.
Just reveal the thing Nintendo, PLEASE (and show us some really awesome games for it).

A) Emily constantly puts out BS vague rumors

B) zero sources

C) we have no idea if anything has been 100% finalized, something like the battery and/or power usage is impossible to know whether its been finalized

I don't know who's worse- people like Emily who put out BS vague rumors that everyone forgets about because they're SO vague- or the people on forums like these spreading these likely false rumors further

It does sound like she got the 3DS supported through 2018 stuff correct as it looks like Nintendo is going to be supporting the 3DS for a while.

I dunno if they're "so vague", she is pretty specific about screen size, resolution, detachable controllers, USB ports, and many other details. For battery life it's not like even a leaker is going to sit there and measure the exact amount of battery time, so that's kinda undertanable for that to be more of a ball park figure.

A Tegra X1 with a 6+ inch screen was never going to be a marathon battery machine, I'd say 4 hours is about the best you're gonna get.

A day after they announced a 3ds dedicated direct, lol. I mean do you honestly think she has had a an actual leak ever? I've honestly never heard anything come out of her mouth that hasn't already been said, blatantly obvious if you think about it, or completely wrong.

Not gonna happen, at least at launch. With 32Gb carts I really don't see it happening anytime soon either (GTA 5 is a 40Gb file, Arkham Knight 45Gb on Xbone). It's just not adding up.

We don't really know if there might be bigger carts available at higher costs. The info we have is 32GB at the cost of a regular BD. There might be room for bigger ones without the price exploding.

Also a lot of modern games have barely compressed files on the disk. You could probaby shrink GTA down a good bit with proper compression.

Isn't this just the portable device? What about the homeconsole? As far as I heard, you can attach more powerful rendering devices to it.

A lot of ifs and maybes. I thought the same Eurogamer leak everyone is revolving around already had the info of it being a 32 Gb cart. And needing upwards on 60Gb is going to be a bit more expensive...

That's a hard sell for me.

It could render at 4k, and with a 32Gb cart size it'll still just look like a Wii U game
