It would not be cost effective for Nintendo to support VR right now. I'm sure the most we'll get from Nintendo is a consideration of a possible upgrade if NX is truly an adaptable hardware.

I think it's worth mentioning that all the VR solutions we have now on the market and even Sony's PSVR require an external camera to control the space position of both the headset and the controllers.

And no rumor has mentioned such camera or the use of Wii & Wii U's sensor bar.

I just need it to have awesome games. That's all I care about. The ability to switch back and forth between handheld and console sounds neat too.

As for VR functionality, I hope not. I don't see VR catching on.

I've said for years that Nintendo will be the one to bring VR into the gaming mainstream, however I don't think it's with NX. The NX successor sounds more likely for that.

If Nintendo does VR, I believe it will be their next home console. If the rumors are true and this console is a hybrid, then they will have both the television and hand held market secure. This will afford them the ability to attempt a go at VR because if it fails, they still have their, "traditional" bases covered.

VR does not bode well for franchises like Smash Bros. or even Mario. However, if they create a great and inexpensive VR console that stands next to this hybrid idea, they could potentially sell both consoles and not step on their own toes. This has been my prediction for a while now, and I stand by it. Wii remote seems destined for VR technology.

Shoot, I would buy that.

The last rumour I heard was about a portable game console, Nintendo 3DSwap, acts as a VR headset's display and with detachable motion controllers.
