I was expecting some commenting during the teardown.. instead I get some crappy music.. disappointed.

Wish they made the power supply external like the og PS2 slim and make it truly slim.



Wow. That thing is bolted down tight. I don't think I've ever opened any device with that many scews in the way of the good bits.

It looks very well designed though.



Using the button battery as a reference (looks like a 2032 or 2016 rechargeable lithium battery), the new die size appears to be ~ 12.5mm x 17.5mm, or 218mm2, a nice reduction from the 348mm2 of the OG PS4. Also has used the 8gb gddr5 chips to drop the memory chip count to 8 from 16. Should be a decent size cost reduction for Sony.



I'm surprised at all the ribbon cables and the way its built. Or maybe it was the way it was tore down? It looks like it was built from the bottom up.
