Forums - Sony - SONY SHADOW new smartphone concept

This is only a concept and will remain only a concept for good reasons.

A slider phone is a dated concept IMHO. The public is way too used to a large screen and a single button, unless this thing is $99 it will never be popular.

Looks like the NX /s

I think this one will always stay a concept

Looks like the PSP Go/Xperia Play phone moreso than a DS or NX

I'd be very interested in this phone if the second/bottom screen can do alot more like if i wanted to watch a video on the top screen while browsing or FB on the bottom screen etc.. I think people would find that useful.

It is adorable, but it will probably fail in sales.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Nah. It's not silly at all. Well good enough as a response to the post is was made for. And WTF is wrong with using revenue as a measure? I realize that there are other metrics to use, but it's kind of an important one. You mention Intel. Sony had higher revenue than Intel in 2015. Feel free to make a proper rankings table if you have the time/inclination. I was making a quick response on VGC.

Yeah, it is actually.  Revenue alone means jack.  For example, a negative profit margin (as 'enjoyed' by many Japanese tech companies for many years) and high revenue will actually shrink your company.

Anyhow, I dont need to go off and make a better list... a well respected and globally quoted/reported list already exists.  You'll find Sony at 192, would have been top 20 easily not too long ago.

Sony needs less money than Microsoft to do the same thing, this is something you wont see in your statistics

What are you talking about? What does that even mean?

SONY isn't the juggernaut brand that it used to be. That's a fact. I can't remember the last time I thought about buying a SONY product that wasn't a Playstation. Some Camera sometime ago maybe? Yeah... and I didn't.

I don't remember the last time you genuinely praised Sony, or honestly talked positively about them. You always put a negative spin on anything related to them.

It could succeed but only if Apple will release one as well to let people believe they need it. If they would be the only company releasing something like that I'm not sure if it would sell great.

Maybe in Japan where mobile gaming is huge and this could make it easier to play mobile games

Bewildering post by Ruler.

Thanks kowenicki. I like to learn. There's literally no downside in being proven wrong. :) While Ruler's post may not be germane to the topic at hand, it's absolutely true. Also, Lurker? Sony still make killer tv's. I have one from a 2012 that is a masterpiece. I bought a 4k from Samsung in aug 2015, because it was A: A great deal, and B: The #2 gaming tv on the list I compiled. The #1 was a Sony model, but was sadly much more expensive. No "deal" on it for whatever reason. I don't like Samsung. Have had nothing but trouble with purchases from them. TV's, blu-ray players, whatever. My last 3 Samsung tv's have been defective on purchase, including the newest one, and their customer service is a joke....But $$$$ savings...I just had a massive flu based diarrhea attack. Just as I was washing my shower curtain. A seriously fucked up night.

Neat concept, but I can't see it seeing the light of day for a physical release, let alone Apple style numbers and popularity.

The phone brand attraction just isn't there like it is for other companies who are at the top of the chain.
