GT is not dead, but GT sport is a mistake.

They should have focused on GT7 with loads of content and could include Sport in GT7. They need an impressive looking game that has alot of meat.

The GT prologues and sport only served to dilute the brand.

It depends on resources and time required for the main title: as GT5 was very late, Prologue did a good job to keep the interest alive on the franchise and to provide precious funds to develop and refine GT5, also GT5 Prologue and GT5 combined sold very well. But Sony could do a thing to make fans happier and love GT even more, applying a discount on GT7 for those that already bought GT Sport too, and offer GT Sport at a budget price to those that will buy it after GT7.
Finally, GT Sports caters also to a different segment of the racer genre, so it can both attract casual racer gamers that wouldn't buy GT7 and become an additional purchase for racer enthusiasts that even after buying huge games like GT main titles just want more.
