Forums - Sony - PS4 Slim Manual Reveals CUH-20XXB Model With 1 Terabyte Hard Disk Drive

I am all digital. And currently using a 1TB SSHD. I usually have an average of 8-10 games installed on my PS4 at any one time. I generally delete stuff I haven't touched for over 3 months.

I know the PS4 supports backing up to an external HDD, but I would actually prefer game backups on a game by game basis. Make it that you can't play the games from the external HDD and have to first copy back to the PS4 That's still bettr than having to re download it again.

The reason the external hard drive idea isn't a good business proposition is because it negates the pulling power of multiple SKUs. The only reason there are 500gb/1tb/2tb SKUs is to give people the opportunity to buy the more expensive SKU if they so wish but if you promote the use of an external drive then the benefits become negligable. That's why Sony won't do it.

Not sure if the manual addresses this, but I think there is an optical port, for the users who were worried about that.  At least I think so.  Captured this from the Youtube unboxing.

Notice the port by the yellow triangle.  I think that's it.

Yeah, I have a feeling Sony might release the 500GB SKU for $249. The substantially smaller size, removal of the iconic lightbar (& optical port?), and no 4K output, it gives the impression that Sony is trying to lower the MSRP as much as it can.

That works for you, but I have a 2TB SSD filled to the brim, and I play every game installed on it. I am having to figure out what friends I am going tl stop playing with each time a new game comes out since I have no space.

Then on top ofthat I want to try as much PSVR content as possible, so I am hoping Neo releases same day as PSVR. Otherwise I have to find space for 11 old school AAA games I plan to get between now and Dcember and 30 somethinlg Next Gen VR games and apps.

How many games is 2TB worth? Even at 50 gigs a piece that is that is something like 30+ games right? How is it possible to have that many games installed that you are still playing?

For starters I have WWE 2K16, UFC 2, MLB the Show 2016, Madden 15, NBA 2K16, Rory Mcllroy PGA Tour,Pure Pool, Hustle Kings, DRIVECLUB, and Need For Speed to cover sports. Those alone take up over 400GB.

Then I have GTAV, Rocket Leue, Kill Strain, Invokers Tournament, Indigo Prophacy, No Mans Sky, Frozen Free Fall, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, uper Star Dust, Doom, Tetris, South Park Stick of Truth, Uncarted 4, Street Fighter V, Four Kings Casino, Driveclub Bikes, The Nathan Drake Collection, Allienation, Ratchet & Clank, Monopoly Plus, Little Big Planet 3, Beyond Two Souls, Beach Buggy Racing, Callof Duty Black Ops III, Disney Infinity3.0, Until Dawn, Dead Nation, God of War II Remastered, Singstar, The Witcher 3, Bloodborne, The Order 1886.

Plus I have most of the Apps, and a bunch of screen captures and video captures. I have an external HDD to transfer videos and screen caps to as well, along with music, family photos, and adult entertainment.

I get my money out of my PlayStation units, because I don't do PC anymore. The same applys to my Vita as well. It has a 64GB card that is in constant shuffle. Luckly, the PS3 plays tansfer unit for it.

I will never need more than 500 gigs this gen. Install a game. Play the game. Delete the game.

Want to play it again later? Re install it.

I would have to have 10+ AAA games installed before I started having any space issues. Large AAA games on top of that.

Some people are loath to uninstall for some reason. I CAN see the point of a larger drive if you are completely digital but even then you can start playing the game before it's fully downloaded as far as I remember. I could be wrong there though because I always buy physical.

Yes you can start playing as soon as a small portion of the game as downloaded. I maxed out my 1TB hdd earlier because I like to have a few games downloaded because I tend to like to switch between games. Plus when I do have a clear out my nepthews come around and redownload the shit I just deleted.
