No batteries please, thats last century tech :) - I dont think many people would want batteries, in fact MS get derided alot for making controllers with batteries every time they launch a new console.

You can actually have both. The Xbox 360 and Xbox One do.
It's certainly better than replacing ALL of your controllers every few years or being forced to live cabled forever, am I right?

Microsoft should really pull it's finger out and provide the play and charge kit with every controller, whilst providing the AA battery support.

I am still able to use my Xbox 360 controllers from over 10 years ago, wirelessly. Even today... And will likely be able to when I pull them out in another 10 years time.

Seriously just have two controllers, charge one and play the other, I've not once ran into any issues with not having a controller to play. Having a second controller then also means you dont need a charging unit for the batteries and you can use it to play co-op, win win.

So your solution is for me to buy 8x controllers? Because you know. I do play 4x Co-Op with people. - Buying extra controllers is simply a waste of money when the solution might only cost Sony mere cents to implement.. And there is still no guarentee you can use all your controllers wirelessly in 10 years time.

I've played many many hours on PS/4 and have not once yet needed to replace a controller - because the more controllers you have, you spread the wear and tear on them...

The laws of Physics literally tells us that it's a matter of "when" the Lithium-ion battery's fail, not if.
They have a finite amount of cycles... Which can be shortened by improper charging cycles, heat, incorrect storage. etc'.
It's actually not about the amount of hours you use them for.

I am a firm believer in giving the consumer choice and options, if you don't believe that, then fair enough, not my problem.

SO you have 12h non-stop of 4 co-op everyday?

Sorry to hear your controllers are dying. But my DS3 from 2009 still hold 1 week of gameplay with no issue at all and it's the main controller I play with.

Who cares really? you can upgrade the battery anyways to double the lifetime just like you can upgrade the thumbsticks to Wii U ones

like seriously have you never used a screwdriver in your whole life or what?

I'm sure Sony can squeeze more power out of the battery like a couple people mentioned, but I think my most preferred scenario is the one the PSP had: sell the device with a removable rechargeable battery pack, then sell larger capacity ones. It makes the whole process much more user-friendly.

Sure I could unscrew the DS4, but the process could be made easier for people that don't want to go to those lengths. I'm sure there's a market for large-capacity battery packs, and with all the accessories people buy for consoles as it is, a battery pack actually makes practical sense.

if they not make wired controllers for this i will never buy it.

Ha, that's true. I prefer to play most 3D games with KB+M, so my Pro controller only sees periodic use.

12hrs on the DS4 may actually be almost enough for me. I'm pretty lazy about plugging in my wireless devices. I usually just plug them in once a week, if I can get away with it, so somewhere in the realm of 14-24hrs is ideal.

I think your needs are a little outside the capacities of the DS4 unfortunatelly =[ not sure how much sony is saving by putting so meager battery on the controller... but for the price they charge, a bigger battery eating the margin isn't an excuse for me.

Same with cellphone, I can't understand why they try and make cellphone slimmers (they are already hard to grip) instead of using the shaved space on the eletronics to fit bigger batteries and give us a cellphone that can at least hold for a day instead of half or even 1/3 on hard use.

I find it hard to believe any of these controllers can possibly cost these companies more than $20 to produce, but for some reason they find the need to charge $50-60, while cutting corners at that. M$ is even worse. $50 for the controller and $20 for a battery pack. It's madness. My phone has a 2540mah battery, and a replacement can be found for between $5-10, but I'm sure any mega corporation could have them manufactured for a fraction of that.

Yeah, the cellphone thing really bugs me, too. Imagine how long these things would last if companies weren't always pushing to make them thinner and thinner. You already need a case to be able to hold them comfortably. Meanwhile if you want a full day's use out of the things you need to bring an external battery with you anyway. Such a waste.

Nobody outside of the internet cares about this and that's the audience for the slim. Neo is for nerds like us.

The PS5 Exists.

The Wii U Pro controller uses easily replaceable lithium ion batteries. Bam! Best of both worlds. It also uses the same battery as the 3ds, and (I think) the DS, so it's safe to say they'll be easy to find for quite a while.

Just got a response from shortman82 about the battery life (he was testing it yesterday) and he said that with rumble off and the lightbar on low he got about 10 hours out of it.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Worst part is that we don't have options for DS4 and even unbranded controllers for PS3 were quite expensive and crap. DS4 is massive enough for them to put a very big battery inside if they really wanted, and it could cost them a little more, but wouldn't take anything from the controller (maybe a little heavier controller).

Mhmm I see. Hopefully that is the case. Both my xbox one and wiiU pro controller last a lot longer than the ps4 controller so I am hoping by the time I get the Neo, the controller will be revised with a great battery life.

Could also be an inidication of where you spend most of your time gaming.

About to say the same shit, your battery is dieing cause you are playing for hours on end and you don't notice.

sometimes I play for 7 hours straight and get upset when my ds4 dies, when I take a closer look it felt like 2 hours of play time but in reality I sat and played for nearly 8 hours.
