I'd say it is around 70% in height, which would result in 70% volume if the other dimensions were the same. Since it is also a bit shorter, the volume reduction should also be in the 40% area, so the shrink is similar to the XB1slim.

It looks like a less drastic shrink than the Xbox One Slim was.

I know its hard to eyeball these things, but I doubt they shrunk it that much.

Why on earth haven't eurogamer or someone else taken a damn tape measure to this thing, seriously... T_T

So how much smaller is this model compared to the other one?

It's a lot flatter, the other dimensions haven't changed much: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPttLK5b29c

Doesn't seem that much different outside of the flat side. Kinda underwhelming, but my ideal console size is around Vita TV size, so...

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Well, that depends on if you have many small files or many big files but sure, for backups it might be useful. But that's basically the only thing where it makes sense.

I did a backup using a 3.0 drive last week and it took five hours, so it would be a disaster in USB 2.0. However, I do agree that it's ridiculous to not support external HDDs. It's not like they are profiting from selling internal HDDs since they don't manuafcture those, so it's plain BS. It's easy to replace the HDD, I got give it to them, but I would rather buy a huge and cheaper 3.5' drive, put it in a case and use it.

I know we have the Nyko data bank, but it doesn't look that good and is an extra cost. With two new PS4s coming wth different designs, the same data bank would also not fit. Even if you don't plan on upgrading, consoles can break and you would have to buy a different model anyway.

That looks uglier than I first thought. Only second to the x1. So far ps4/x1s >>>>>> ps4 slim/x1 in terms of looks

No 4K? I hope it can at least upscale with HDMI 2.0.

If not i hope they are targeting $199-$249 for a 500GB console.

If you mean 4K games, no. It's the same hardware of the OG model. It may however include upscaling to 4K and HDR support like the One S.

As the price point, I believe 300 bucks is the maximum, to at least be on par with the One S. But the Neo is rumoured to be currently with two specs defined, one for 400 dollars and the other for 500, with the first one being more likely. I don't see them letting just a 100 dollar gap between versions, because people would have to be really dumb to save only 100 bucks and get almost 2.5X less power. So I'm counting on 200-250, unless they decide to go with a 500 Neo and a 300 Slim.

I took a screenshot from the comparison video and adjusted the angle (0.9 degree to the right) and then looked at the size of both rectangles.

the height of the slim is 71 - 72% of the launch PS4, the length is 90 - 91%. The area of the smaller rhomboid should be around 65% of the bigger one. And the Slim is also a bit shorter in width, so the volume should be between 60 - 65% of the launch PS4.

I think they will try to fokus on a very big audience, like they did with the ps2. The success of the Ps4 is a huge point for their marketing (and the future marketing for the Ps5 and their exclusive deals). So I think the Ps4 Slim will be 200-250€, going to 199€ as Christmas Sales. So they will have huge sales and will make a price like 399€ for the Neo.

I wonder is there is going to be a fire sale on the current PS4s to make way for the Slim.

ok from the multitude of high quality size comparison images available now I've deduced the following.

The New PS4 Model has the approximate dimensions of 268x40x282 mm

Compared to the OG Model with the dimensions of 275×53×305 mm.

This makes the new slim ps4 approximately 32% smaller in terms of volume.
