I found a planet that had not one, but two species of giant flying eels.
Bet with Adamblaziken:
I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
I present to you now flying sharks... and briefly my inventory.

Depends on the circumstances. If employees of Sony were able to play NMS at that point in time, they would be aware that the actual game does not match the footage that is used to advertise it. Given that No Man's Sky is one of those indie games that Sony backed up, the likelyhood that Sony knew about the state the game is in is pretty high. But in a world where Sony and Microsoft show trailers of PC versions of AAA games without any sort of disclaimers at their E3 conferences, misleading marketing is closer to the norm rather than being the exception. So what does it matter anyway? The time when it made sense to complain about individual cases of misleading marketing is a thing of a past. It's an industry-wide problem. |
Sorry, but this is total rubbish. Sony was not involved in developing NMS and isnt publishing it. They provided marketing support. You assume that some Sony guy must have played an unfinished game for dozens of hours and conclude the corporation as a whole must have been aware of supposedly misleading marketing? And then what?
Lol, that is rich.
Furthermore, where exactly did Sony show trailers of their games not mentioning platform and showing content/graphics with noticable downgrade when compared to the final product.

edit 2: user Azuren recently held a stream that has convinced me there are indeed planets in the game that are comparable to what Sean had shown off at E3 2015. For too long, streams I had tuned into featured very barren and dead planets that left me unimpressed. I imagine there are more dead planets than live ones due to the game's coding but this could potentially make the hunt for interesting planets more exciting and Azuren has shown me why there are people who can enjoy this game. Thank you Azuren. The stream was great fun! That said, I must acknowledge the game has some game-crashing bugs which are unacceptable and need to be addressed as soon as possible. Also, I still feel $60 is a steep price for the game. I think Azuren would agree. And finally, I still cannot attest to the space battles shown off in the E3 2015 trailer. Azuren's stream didn't feature much space battling. Maybe in the future I'll give them a harder look but I don't recall the space battles I have seen in streams looking as good as the E3 one. |
I would say there are about 5-6 dead/nearly-dead planets to every planet like the one we found.
And to be fair, over half of the crashes I've experienced in roughly 20 hours of gameplay happened in that 10 minute stretch where that Gek was apparently giving me game-breaking stuff.
I agree $60 is steep for this game, but I wouldn't put it at less than a $25 value (when it's fully patched).
And there was a space battle, but you were afk. I warped right into the middle of a battle and the space pirates sent me packing to the space station. You can also initiate space battles that can be fairly intense if you decide that the freighters look tasty enough.

yeah, I've had some intense battles in space. Im not sure if you can make them all look like the demo shown because they're all slightly different in their nature.
if everything was exact to the demo this game would lose its purpose of offering variety. The very nature of lush and baren planets, varying space fights from big ones with freighters involved with smaller ships to pirate attacks from smaller ships and so on make it near impossible to replicate exactly what was shown because it's not a linear game nor meant to be.
As for the trailers I've experienced everything shown in them in one way or another (MP being the only thing I haven't done yet) so it's not misleading to me. Is it exact? No, but I couldn't replicate any other games trailer exactly for the most part.
It is akin to saying battlefield misled us because I'm not going to experience the battle as shown on their trailer.
l <---- Do you mean this glitch Gribble? If not, I'll keep looking.
I am on the other side of my sig....am I warm or cold?

I might have been away. Perhaps in a future stream we can probe some space battles? Would like to see how they compare to the E3 2015 demo.

I would say it's fairly dead-on. I think it was when you went to the store, but yeah, next time I can just attack a freighter and initiate combat.
