The game runs great on my old laptop and is perfectly alt-tab safe.... through ps4 remote play.

Apart from 20% chance of crash on loading a save, a few random freezes requiring a forced shut down, and that game breaking bug that made me start over. At least you can get a refund on PC. I'm glad I didn't have that option as despite all the very rough edges, it's still growing on me. "Report error" grumble, when was the last restore point...

Anyway from what I've seen in the Steam discussion, best bet is to turn off v-sync and/or gsync whatever that is.

This sounds like you had a miserable time.

I was about to trade in the game instead of starting from scratch after 8 hours of trying to get out of the first system. It's better now. Yes, it still crashes occasionally but it is steadily growing on me. The soundtrack helps a lot with that and at least it saves often (if you don't go wandering through caves for hours) But true, NMS's amount of error reports I have submitted already doubled all the other crashes I've had since launch.

I'm just glad I resisted the temptation of getting it day one. Looks like a game I'll enjoy so I'll wait until most of it's issues have been ironed out. And it's not like I'll be missing out on the multiplayer side of things anymore.

Very dispointing especially since its Steams biggest selling game for 2016 so far.
I still cant play it due to loading errors.

Thanks for all the beta players :) Ops, i mean the early buyers.

Seems like the small team were too ambitious with trying to get a PC release out around the same time as PS4. They should have put the PS4 version out now, and targets a PC release for holiday 2016 or early 2017, and spent those months making sure the game worked on a wide variety of PC hardware and drivers.

But also be really open about difficulties with PC optimisation.

Never buy a game Day 1, when will people learn

Never buy a game from some devs* day one.

Not every dev over promises/lies/under-delivers. Though NMS has bugs and performance issues galore, too.

Never buy an indie game wrapped in a AAA shell day one is more like it.

The game is huge and has a huge scene of exploring in a cool new concept and offers a lot of WOW moments but overall anyone being fair on the game will know very soon its repetitive and the combat isn't designed the best it could be, overall, even if the game is running its a 7 at best.

For PC users however, the game is either crashing or getting very low frames on systems much stronger the the PS4, even on $900++ pc's with the newest graphics cards people are reporting problems.

It seems unlikely the developer didn't know about these issues because they are widespread, maybe thats why they delayed the PC release by a few days? to avoid a shitstorm? well for me on a decent PC I have been getting around 30FPS on medium settings, so its very simulair to the PS4 experience but I have been getting dips in combat, which really hurts my experience lol.

I am happy I did get to play it a bit but after 10-20 hours I do think I am just waiting for some patches :)
