Forums - Gaming - Are you buying Federation Force

Yes, I have preorded it. I dunno, I actually have faith that Tanabe will give us an interesting story about the federation marines. That part of the Metroid Prime lore has a lot of potential, so if they do it right, we may have a very unique entry in the Metroid franchise. Gameplay wise it looks solid and fun, so no complaints here. My only "but" is the art style chosen. It looks like a cheap 3D european animation tv show. It would have been great if they kept the same graphics as in the other Prime entries. But they want to get children into the series. And I'm okay with that. So, as long as the story has some interest and the gameplay is fun, I'll be looking for Federation Force.

I'm counting the people here who don't want to support Nintendo's use of the Metroid IP for a game like Federation Force, and I'm going to buy an extra copy at full prize for each one of them, just because I can :D

Nope, I'll just play Metroid Prime through a snanpchat filter. It's better than Federation Flop.

nope, voting with the wallet. this is NOT what Metroid fans wanted. I'm sure there are some Nintendo fans that this caters to, but the vast majority of the series fans are here because of things like Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, Metroid Prime- atmospheric adventure sci fi games that are single player. Hell, I don't even mind if you throw in some sort of multiplayer element bonus mode (or even maybe a 2 player co op) as long as the core fundamental mood and gameplay is there and it stars the titular character Samus, of which the franchise has built on (her and her involvement with the Metroids)

I would suggest series fans do not buy this. I doubt it will do well regardless, but seriously a game like this selling okay would send the exact wrong message to Nintendo. This is one of the only truly shocking decisions I can think of that Nintendo has made in recent years regarding software, I mean looking at its gameplay and graphic it may as well be called something like "Team Space Bounty Hunters". Hell, they should have already dropped the Metroid name and just left it "Federation Force".

the only thing (beyond name) about this game that appears to resemble the franchise is the fact that it uses the HUD and has Samus's blast cannon

Yeah, sure. I kinda noticed everybody is hating the game and stuff, but I like to form my own opinion by actually playing a game. There are a lot of gems in gaming which are hated by most people. Like Final Fantasy 13 or Duke Nukem Forever. Everybody loves to jump on the hate train without even trying the games themselves. I won't do that. I will play that sucker with no regrets.

sorry but all people have to judge this game on right now is the trailer, and it looks like shit. Its cute and all saying "Don't judge until you play!" but based on that logic everyone would buy the game, hate it, and then the game would do well and Nintendo wouldn't have learned a lesson.

Its not really taking a 'high' road to play something and then realize that the negative hype was real and you just wasted your money. Just saying, too many companies get away with releasing great trailers or promises and then disappointing. in this case all we've gotten was terrible looking stuff so I have no clue on Earth what the logic would be in defending it or suggesting people purchase it. Maybe if some new awesome material had just been released promoting it

Note: Duke Nukem is dumb fun but even fans of the genre like me (Serious Sam)  aren't raving about it haha, especially considering how long it was in development

Nope. Voting with my wallet. Also simply having "Metroid" in the title doesn't mean anything; it's just some shooter thing I'm not interested in. Overall just not desirable.

Ya i probably will at some point, i think the game looks decent and is getting way more hate than it deserves.
