Forums - Gaming - Was there a game you REALLY had to give up on?

Life is Strange, Episode 1. Spoiler warning: you have to take a selfie for the story to progress. I said "fiiiiine", got it over with and then had to redo the entire scene shortly after.

I officially stopped caring and uninstalled the game.

Ninja Gaiden NES Area 6-2. Enough said.

Oh sure. As far as pure difficulty goes, I gave up on Killzone 3 on hard difficulty due to an insane on-rails segment about 70% into the game. I was loving the game prior to that, but it was so bad that I was able to make the decision to bail in about 10-15 minutes.

Reminds me when I tried to beat CoD:WaW (Wii) on hardest difficulty.  I believe I barely progressed through the first level dying numerous times to well placed gernades and perfect shots.  I considered myself pretty damn good at the game (with all the MP I put into the game) but the computer AI seemed to just cheat at being hard.  Made it not fun at all.

It's a MMORPG so maybe special, but Blade and Soul. Great gameplay, really interesting principles, but if you want to progress, you have to play 15 hours a day repeating the same boring dungeon or you need to pay a lot of money (easily hundreds of euros). The pure stereotype of a corean game. Loved the game and I was a really active early supporter, but had to let it go after a while.

COD:WAW has a pretty tough single player campaign. I would only place the glitchy/buggy COD 3 above it in terms of difficulty amongst the 5  COD's I've played.

Ok, guys. It's time for a little backpedalling. I just went back to Dark Souls. I went to the merchant right outside of the entrance to Blighttown and bought as many arrows as I can. And from there, I made it to the bonfire in the swamp. I'll tackle the Witch tonight. Wish me luck.

But to stay on topic, I had to give up on both Dragon Warrior VII and Final Fantasy X. In Dragon Warrior, I came across couple of bosses that were too tough for my party, and it was too late to go back and grind. In Final Fantasy X, I already couldn't stand Tidus, and almost all the characters were too stereotypical for me. So right at the every end at 40 hours of gameplay right before the very last boss, I found out what Titus really was. It was one of the dumbest things I came across in a video game. So I quit the game and never looked back.

I temporarily gave up on Dark Souls but I want to go back to it and restart if from the beginning as it's been awhile and I could probably level up the stats of my character a bit better the next time around.

There's actually alot of games that I just gave up on out of shear boredom... Kingdom Hearts II and Skyward Sword immediately come to mind as you have to slog your way through the early portions of each game, and neither really held my interest for very long to make me want to push forward and invest more time in them.

I also had to force myself to finish many 1st / 3rd person shooter campaigns, like BF Bad Company 2, Gears 3, Halo Reach, and COD MW3.  Alot of shooter campaigns just feel more like a chore these days.  I haven't played the new Doom yet but I hear good things about it.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Bloodborne, not because it was too hard, but because the slow exploration and you dying a lots and you wanting to progress makes the game so fucking frustrating to play, i will start again someday with a guide.

Dark souls had the perfect balance, bloodborne is too much ...

you shouldnt grind to level up in bloodborne. you should either play PvP or do the chalice dungeons. those are two great ways to gain echos and level up.

plus, they patched in some friendly AI to help with boss fights if you want.

i gave up on Mass Effect 1. its gameplay was SO bad that i couldnt get past the first level. it was just horrible. even though the story was really interesting.
