"compatible with ITS OWN GAMES"

What is exactly the problem of being able to play the next mobile AC in your NX? Nintendo why do you let me play your mobile phones on my console why???

They're shooting themselves in the foot with this. Why can't they accept that they need to break into the mobile market without being so full of themselves. They're doing too much and once again, the marketing team will have a terribly hard time marketing this thing. Is it a phone is it a handheld, is it a plug n' play, is it a console? I just want a concrete answer.

Are you kidding me? Are you really telling that being able to play mobile Nintendo games on the NX is somehow bad for the NX? Is bad they are creating an ecosystem to play every Nintendo game that they release from now on? How?

Isn't Microsoft eventually doing this with Universal Apps? I have to admit, I'd rather play tablet games on the NX (if the rumors are true) as it seems more like a smartphone / tablet than the Xbox. Of course, I'd rather just play home console style games, and save the mobile games for the time I need to kill with my phone, and that's where the NX (as described, at least) worries me. Could it even fit games such as Witcher 3 and such on a cartridge? Are developers going to be able to compress them sufficiently to fit them? Most of the games I've bought lately have been well above 30 gb.

I'm not saying that putting their own games on their own console is...bad necessarily. What I am saying is, putting too much tech into something that should be a simple...console with an idea that anybody can get. I guess it can't hurt Nintendo, but it might hurt NX's image as a whole. Like...why would I get an NX if I have a smartphone that plays Nintendo's mobile content.

They're essentially trying to say "Yeah, we have mobile games on smartphones but that's not important, come play it on NX instead!" They don't even have a positive track record in modern mobile gaming. At least cement yourself in this area first. They are already doing this with games like Pokemon what was it, it was some puzzle game or something on 3DS and Mobile. I don't think Nintendo understands the mobile market and what it stands for and what it is supposed to add to their business. There's nothing wrong with putting their games on their consoles, it's more coverage for them. I just don't understand why'd they would go out of their way to say they're making mobile games and try to entice people to come play their mobile games on their consoles. That's contradictive to how 99% of other game companies like Square Enix or any other game company approach mobile.

And yes, I understand that Nintendo has often found themselves in great positions by not following the norm. But it's just very um...backwards to me to make the NX play mobile games and not focus on their dedicated hardware style games on a piece of dedicated hardware. There's billions of people who have smart phones, utilize them to your advantage is all I'm saying.

You should go out for a walk and sort your thoughts. You need fresh air.

What you are fantasizing about here isn't based on the content of this thread.

Maybe you're right. But what am I fantasizing about? I just think it's too much for Nintendo to try and tackle at one time when they've already lost the trust of millions of gamers.

I think this lends credence to Soundwaves theory that you might be able to access the google app store and download games and apps from there. This would mean that the NX is a suped up tablet which also functions as a home console. Could be what Nintendo needs and could see them dominate the gaming market. But I remain sceptikal, since it is Nintendo we're talking about

Nikkei reported it first, like ages ago, and Nikkei has been correct about many other Nintendo related things before, so I take their word on that.

The reason is more basic than market maneuvering too -- Nintendo can make MONEY off mobile games, every time a kid downloads Candy Crush or Mobile Strike on NX, Nintendo will take 30% of all revenue on a custom Nintendo OS (Android fork) instead of Google getting the money.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out how lucrative that could become for Nintendo, they could make lots of money off NX with no traditional third party support even.

That's likely the appeal, plus on NX they'll get to keep 100% of the profit from their own mobile games.

You refer back to the Nikkei report quite a lot, but have any other sources backen that up? It would be a smart move by Nintendo, which is why I doubt it'll happen...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

That's why you'll go outside. You need some distance from the internet.

I go outside...sometimes. All this NX news is just confusing me. Nintendo is confusing me I'll go take a walk then I guess...and play Pokemon Go.

If it's based off Android, it's gonna have a play store...that means you can download a DS/GBA emulator and have the access to DS, GBA, mobile, AND NX games.

Predicting 500 million lifetime sales.

It will be 100% controlled by Nintendo, meaning no chance in hell of DS/GBA emulators offered. It will be a forked version of Android most likely with a custom Nintendo OS overlay, this is the same thing Amazon does.

That means Nintendo controls the entire app store and gets licensing fees from it (instead of Google).

I knew that- just thought it'd be worth dreaming about the possibility :P
