Nikkei reported it first, like ages ago, and Nikkei has been correct about many other Nintendo related things before, so I take their word on that. The reason is more basic than market maneuvering too -- Nintendo can make MONEY off mobile games, every time a kid downloads Candy Crush or Mobile Strike on NX, Nintendo will take 30% of all revenue on a custom Nintendo OS (Android fork) instead of Google getting the money. It doesn't take a genius to figure out how lucrative that could become for Nintendo, they could make lots of money off NX with no traditional third party support even. That's likely the appeal, plus on NX they'll get to keep 100% of the profit from their own mobile games. |
You refer back to the Nikkei report quite a lot, but have any other sources backen that up? It would be a smart move by Nintendo, which is why I doubt it'll happen...
I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!
Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
