Funny how when it comes to the profits on this app people like to think Nintendo had nothing to do with it but when we talk about server problems, Nintendo are the only ones involved.

Honestly I think the bulk of the blame falls on Niantic since they did develop the app. And really I don't think anyone knew this app would be the breakout hit that it is. I mean this thing as broken records here and there. Sure hindsight is 20/20 and we can all say "it's Pokémon on a phone of course it would do well" but really this was a risk and they probably didn't plan for this.

Nintendos stocks rasied dramatically because of the app. They are the publisher, they are the winners and they are the ones who paid the developmend/server infrastructure.

I dont think a developer is responsible for the server infrastructure but im not a developer so i cant tell you 100%.

So Pokemon go is now live for more then 2 weeks. Unfortunaly the servers are still not much better then dog Sh1t.

Every evening from 18:00 - 01:00 o clock the servers are mostly down or have really big issues (especially in europe, donnu about other regions).

I cant believe they werent able to fix this in the last 2 weeks. Services like facebook, amazon, youtube, whatsapp and co are having alot bigger server workloads (many costumers as well + alot bigger amount of data) and they are working good. It really cant be to difficult to get enough server ressources for pokemon go within some days. That the situation is still so bad after 2 weeks is just laughable.

Nintendo is a big company so those issues just arnt justifyable. They have enough ressources to fix it, even if they arnt able to do it they can pay others (eg google) which can do it. It seems like nintendo just is to stingy to invest enough into the server capacities.

IMO this is really "typical" for nintendo. I doubt we would have such a situation for an that long time with any other publisher. Those might have problems as well, but they are at least able to fix them in time.

I dont know if nintendo is even responsible for the servers (the developer are niantic) but this situation is just looking so much "nintendo like". they have the best franchises, the best ideas but often they suck so badly at standard tasks.

Every other publisher would most likely invest tons of money to fix those issues asap but nintendo is more like, well we can giv e 5$ lets see if that helps....

I feel like this thread is an excuse to hate on the N, I don't know why tho....

well yeah cause Nintendo, google, niantic, game freak and creatures are part of this game, but to you, Nintendo is guilty, when the game is not even on nintendo's servers.

Well... There have been reports of their servers getting DDOSed as well as people from countries it has not been released in downloading the app and accessing their servers so, it makes sense as to why its having issues.

They knew that their servers couldn't handle it so they tried launching a few countries at a time but that didn't work since people downloaded the app through apkpure and etc and was able to play the game. So... RIP servers really since there are tons of people from countries trying to access the servers even though they aren't supposed to...

Considering what their plan was and what ended up happening, I don't think any company wouldn't have had the same issues provided they went with the same plan.

nintendo is the publisher.

Nintendo owns parts of pokemon company.

Pokemon is for the most part owned by nintendo.

Niantic is an developer that developed for nintendo.

How are google and game freak involved in this?

servers from whatsapp, apple, goole, youtube and co most likely get attacked as well.

Yes but those companies didn't just launch their app or their servers recently... All those companies have mature servers with mature apps with years of improvements... Pokemon go doesn't and it is overtaking mature apps like Twitter in terms of active users in less than two weeks vs years... And not to mention that PSN, Xbox, Steam, Battle.net and etc's servers all go down during DDOS attacks so...

Games can be perfect and with this many people crash hard. Have you ever got a MMO day 1? The first few months are miserable. Don't even get me started on Guild Wars 2 launch.

Google, Nintendo and Pokemon company invested 20 million to make this app. Pokemon is not for the most part owner by Nintendo because Creatures, Game Freak and Nintendo own 33% each one. The publisher is not Nintendo, the publisher is the Pokemon company, the game is using Niantic's servers and Nintendo is developing the Pokemon go plus accessory, which is going to be distribuited by the pokemon company. as  you can see, there are a lot of parts involve.
